    There are 3 possibilities;

    1. We keep our traditional firmware and we get Enigma. I think this one is unlikely.

    2. We get a brand new firmware based ( or with possibilities from ) on Enigma and later there is a chance we get enigma ( if they can let it run ).

    3. Everything will stay as it is.

I would put my money on option 2. Just read what Fatgiant says and keep your ears open. That makes my conclusion ;-)

    4. They release the Premium + Excellent which run on Enigma and offer all of us to exchange our boxes. For a price naturally.

    *grin*

I was missing that one in the list as well.

    Back on-topic:

We'll see what happens, it's no use speculating. Obviously there's not sufficient information to spread any news.

Dear friend we have all realized that the firmware is in the hands of beta testers that that's why they exist, it is better to wait a day or 2 and leave without problems bigger than just how to run snapshots and then hear the criticism of the usual ...

    Good.

I acknowledge also the firm already left for the hand of a few.

In the afternoon leave feedback if you know some news.

some beta testers post on other forum

For a half word wise is sufficient.

For those who only see DREAM forward. The 500HD has been a good shipping.

I like to dream \ az as I stated. Wins the cheapest / feature

    Hi,

About the E2, the information at this moment is, that it isn't possible to implement.

About a new firmware, we are still working on the present one, we hope to see improvements on it quite soon. That's all I know.

    Thanks.

    fatgiant answered on official forum.
So i see a flood of azboxes on **** soon!
Stop dreaming never going to happen.

Where has any of you heard us saying anything about a bug free firmware?

Where has anyone seen us talking about E2 on AZBox?

We haven't made any of those announcements.

What we say is that we are trying to improve the firmware. And even if release schedules are right now a bit unpredictable, they are still happening and improving something.

    Everything else is pure speculation.

So, this thread is closed here. And any other thread opened to discuss speculations will be deleted without warning.

    So......
    Happy ****ing.

IMPROVE ONE THING THEN ADD NEW BUGS.

That's an appalling statement to read from opensat.

I like my box, but with the lack of new firmwares or firmwares that don't really address any issues I really though Opensat must be working on something 'big'.

Sadly, after reading that statement I can't see the box getting any better, I've simply lost faith in opensat.

when I bought the box I believed it would be open source, what's the point in having a linux box that is closed?

Despite alot of potential, I fear the box will die.

I'll keep mine for now, but will keep my eye out on something that does exactly what this box is suppose to do.

Opensat have very weak dev management

There are some things that are absolute requirements for software development to ensure quality:
    • Every build is run on a clean machine (I should NEVER see "kevin@kevin-laptop" in /proc/version)
    • Every build runs through a set of build verification tests. If the build does not pass these tests, or introduces new bugs (regression errors), the build is rejected. Yes, that's right: that build is considered to be too bad to release.
    • Before any build is released to customers, it is run through a function verification test. This shakes out any bugs, all of which are addressed before releasing the software.
    • Any bug uncovered by a customer is treated with the highest priority. This means that all development stops until it is fixed. At the very least a developer is given the job to fix that particular problem, and (s)he does not look at anything else until it's done.

Using the agile methodology of "release early, release often" does not mean "release crap": every single version released to customers must meet a minimum quality level. To ensure that it does requires rather hard-assed management - if a developer is gung-ho and commits a change that has not been thoroughly tested, the manager has to tear him/her a new one - such behaviour does not do anyone any good.

Opensat should be aware that this constant criticism affects morale of the employees, and this in turn affects the quality of the product. Consequently, by not addressing the software quality problems which are clearly a major problem, the vicious circle continues: bad firmware->customer complaints->lowered morale->worse firmware->more complaints->worse morale-> ...

I bet Opensat has high employee turnover - if I worked in that zoo, I'd run!

If there is someone with a pudn account, and these files are for real, maybe the_ripper can finally work with up-to-date tools
