I whish there is "Donate" instead of "Thanks" button. I was supporting and donating some marginal projects, I wish I could do more and help about something I am watching and using daily.

We are using EM8623 for the development of set-top-box and digital signage applications.
In order to develop for that platform, an SDK must be purchased directly from Sigma Designs.
However, the linux kernel is open source so companies need to release the source if they modified it in their products.
For example, you could download the GPL source released by Kiss Technology – http://www.kiss-technology.com/files/firmware/GPL.zip. This is only the GPL source for your reference, after that there are also sigma linux drivers (not released by sigma) and not GPL, and the MRUA package that needs to be purchased from Sigma Designs.
One the challenge of using EM862X platforms (EM8620L, EM8621L, EM8622L, EM8623L etc..) is that it has no MMU (Memory Management Unit) and that may make the software debugging very interesting, where you may spectacular crashes, kernel panic without any apparent reason. But most of the time this is due to a stack overflow of the main process or one the threads used. Having nommu also introduces some limitations such as the absence of fork, dynamic libraries and memory fragmentation. There is a lot of literature about those on the internet and I strongly recommend reading the links below if you develop applications for a nommu platform based on ucLinux.

Boas, mais uma vez aviso que foi o que me disseram! 2 resellers, 1 turco, e um alemão confirmou-me.
Não posso confirmar se é verdade, mas vindo de quem vem é muito provável que seja.
Posso dizer que pedi os logs, e já os li, das conversas dos resellers com o Hugo, datado HOJE, mas não os vou postar, o CEO da Opensat, Hugo a falar sobre isso, e podemos concluir o seguinte, caso se confirme:
Amanhã (dia 17) teremos novo firmware, bem elaborado e com muitos bugs corrigidos (eu agora só visto é que vou em cantigas!!)
Novo firmware (já o de amanhã? pergunto eu, porque não consegui confirmar) irá trazer novidades quentes: lindvbapi e dfb. (linuxdvbapi e dframebuffer) isto é o que é usado nas dreamboxs, vu+ duo, etc etc. O que nos irá permitir usar todo o tipo de bins mipsel na azbox hd, os mesmos que são usados nas dreamboxs. Provavelmente será detectada como dreambox 7025 (porque é o que costuma aparecer ao correr cccam), mas agora n precisamos de trques nenhums, basta por o mipsel e o cccam faz o resto, tal e qual uma dreambox, o leitor de cartões sci0 também está lá, também vem com dframebuffer, isto ainda não percebi muito bem o que era, mas pelo que me foi explicado, vai permitir correr flash/firefox/flv player, etc etc. (como sou webdesigner já estou a esfregar as mãos para fazer menus em flash (swf) vamos ver.
PS: não sei o quão verdade é isto, mas posso dizer que vi logs de tanto de um como de outro e penso que o ******* (reseller) pode confirmar isto também. Ele já sabia que iamos ter novo firmware amanhã, resta saber se estas mudanças já vem no firmware de amnhã, espero que sim, quem dera.
PS2: Sempre que ouver um offtopic neste post, irei pedir a um admin para apagar! Caso tenham comentários a isto tudo bem, se for para invergar com comparações a outras boxs ou assim, peço imediatamente para os posts serem apagados.
ATENÇÃO! - Não vou dizer para não venderem as vossas boxs, mas aconselho só a esperar pelo menos até ao fim-de-semana. Parece que vai aquecer. Eu ia vender a minha ontem e infelizmente/felizmente? não concluí o negócio. Caso até segunda-feira isto se confirme, não irei vender, caso não se confirme, vai mesmo.
PS3: Quem sabe do que falei pode concluir que se o firmware vem com lindvbapi, escusado será dizer que enigma2 está pronto há muito! Visto que era o que faltava, lindvbapi.
PS4: Firmware é certo que saia amanhã, mais tardar quinta-feira. Mas garantido que seja amanhã, espero eu, digo eu.
