Just received this message from Fatgiant.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Hi,

About the E2, the information at this moment is, that it isn't possible to implement.

About a new firmware, we are still working on the present one, we hope to see improvements on it quite soon. That's all I know.

    Thanks.

So i am guessing it all was a marketing stunt after all? Please prove me wrong.

How marketing stunt? From hfmls then not from OpenSat they openly denied from the beginning!!
Even the msn log from hfmls is older then when Nabilo denied excistence off E2 for Azbox.

Just keep the fact straight please

That's what i'am saying from the beginning off this thread:

    There's no dvb-api!!!

Although Opensat may not have started this as a marketing stunt. As hfmls started this rumour ( and assuming he has not been triggered by Opensat to do this). They have used the occured situation in their benefit.

    - They have been really quiet --> and suddenly there were very little development releases.

    - They emailed some user that there was going to a a totally new software release.

    - They have never publicly denied it (although Fatgiant is active on this forum for example). Except for in the very beginning.

    - I have sent a request for information some weeks ago, and only now they answer.

    - According to hfmls Hugo told him E2 was even distributed to some teams (dont have any prove for this of course)

So they have made use of this (not intentionally) created this situation. All I can hope for is that the development of the current software is going as planned, and that we will see a release with huge improvements soon.

I don't want to blame Opensat for this situation, but they sure contributed to some extent of it.

Denial came direct on posting from hfmls on official forum. (within half a hour date 04-02-2010)

    http://www.azbox.com/forum/viewtopic...=1314&start=10

And then they closed the topic, that should have given everyone enough.

Only one person kept rumour alive, I don't think they had to deny it here too.

Rumour off other firmware is true but it's not Enigma, thats all i'am goona give away

    Thank you for your update.

Sounds plausible as it looks like there is too much work to fix current firmware without breaking other bits in it. E2 is not matching well with Sigma so may make more sense to start again from scratch and do maybe a reverse engineered version of Enigma for Sigma.........Opensat, please lets call it "Amgine" if I my assumption is close.

I hope that will stop the daily madness FW and will continue ejaculate tested FW where not allowed to be older FW is better than the latest.

And of course, significant changes in the speed of the channel list, and of course drtic

Why do I sense another lie? Why didnt opensat said it by themselves and sent the message through the users? Are the users some kind of news postman???

My reading of the first sentence is:

It can be done, but not by us...

My reading of the second sentence is:

We are clueless on what to do, everyone is kicking our butt at what firmware is concerned, and we are lost in the woods without a dog!!!

Having that said why not to fire some devs and hire one or two guys from KDG, they might have a clue on what to do to solve some problems, at least they made some changes for better with their 4348 firmware in what Mediaplayer and EPG is concerned, thats about half of what Opensat Devs have made in the last 6 months!!!

    Cheers...

I have heard some rumors that opensat developing new fw, its not e2 but its based of DFB which is some kind of alternative library for sigma graphic acceleration. DFB was ported to sigma processors long ago in 2006 or even before. So. Probably it would be fw with better channel zapping. that's all I know for now.

I menage today to compile new graphic frame buffer device driver and it's working, but there is one big problem, I must use old FW version 0.9.2032 because it was the last version where they used MRUA 2.8.0.5 library version. In new version's of the FW they are using MRUA 2.8.5.X library and ofcourse new xrpc ucodes and old mrua version is broken and unfortunately I dont have access nor I dont know where to download new mrua library version.
I compiled Enigma 2 too, few days ago, but it needs a lot of the changing in the code before we can even start and say it's stable. Plus device remote driver is needed, VFD driver is needed, DVB API is needed ...

So enigma 2 is coming to azbox.
So it turns out HFMLS was right when he said enigma 2 was coming.

But I bet not many apologies to him for all the bad comments and flaming he had to endure when he was only trying to help!!

The_Ripper, first of all I want to thank you for all the work you are doing.

I don't know if this can help you, but I have some sigma files. One of them is called 'mrua_SMP8634_2.8.2.0_dev.mips' and other is 'smp8634_do***entation_2.8.5.0'.

If you think that any of these files can help you with your development, let me know and I'll send to you.

    Regards!

Thank you for the support ...

    @Kaplas
Have that files, but that MRUA is still old 2.8.2.0 vs. new one 2.8.5.X
    Thx.

    @enrico001u
I started on enigma maybe 10 days ago and on DVB API huhh long time ago(still waiting for OPENSAT and b*g as* geeko to grant me access to TS packets), so hfmls didnt talk about me when he started this thread (just to be clear)
