e2 seems diffucult to be done for azbox.But if 2e isnt made for azbox dvbapi must be made at least dvbapi will be enough for most of dvb application.I dunno if tuner,modulator etc.. drivers are suitable for azbox's kernel dvbapi or not .

Compiling E2 source code is easy , main problem here are some drivers for sigma chip.
New kernel version can be done to use glibc not uClibc like now.
Smart card driver can be done to point to path /dev/sci0.
Driver(s) for tuner(s) (frontends) can be done for DVB API. Azbox I think use Connexant CX24116 demodulator (you can find driver source code for this).
Main problem here is demux/audio/video device driver, can it be done in low level coding. Sigma is giving MRUA library to work with their chip but it's high level library like DirectShow for Windows so it sucks big time.
Plus, is it posible to adjust YAMON bootloader to be multi bootloader so we can boot directly from USB not from flash , etc ...

Well you may well be right for all intent and purposes the box ain't doing what we expected it to do, This hobby used to be fun but sinse getting my AZ Box Prem HD with internal 1TB HDD it has become a giant pain in the a*se, so much that now after the latest FW update it's been put on the side. Now I have got a Spider 9000 HD. I don't have the agro now with the Spider, but equally it's not the "hobby" as it's just switch and play.They are searching for the "big Bug Killer"

No one from Opensat(any employees) will not tell you publicly that they are working on E2/new device drivers. What if they dont success on this, everyone will be thinking that they are one who is guilty not Sigma ?

1) They are focused on something else. Doesn't need to be E2, current "modular" FW, limited DVB API, hardcoded skins etc... simply scream for at least refactoring if not rewriting of FW

Fluctuation of users already began, and I don't think that is wise moment to be silent and cautious. Earlier they were closely monitoring public opinion, posting announcement (more or less true) on time. Momentum for new official announcement or statement regarding plans, roadmap already passed. So now it is just question is it better late or never.
They have to do something for upcoming AngaCable, or at least cancel boot if they want to avoid complete humiliation.
Do you think it would be possible to glitch any bus on the CPU/RAM to reveal the low level calls? Sigma claims that the CPU is secure so I don't know if the developers at OpenSat has tried it or if they are content with the MRUA...

To enable any decoding on Simga CPU you needs valid xrpc ucodes.
yeah i am afraid azbox is dying.... have very little hope that it will arise.unfortunely i feel doomed as its very difficult to sell my box so i lost my money:(
Would be unlikly to get true lowlevel drivers then for demux and A/V... But using xrpc ucodes directly might be good enough...
realy strange way doing bussiness,,, if Sigma have a product they have to sell it ..right !! and to do that they have to give full support and sources for devs to work with it..why keep it secret??? simply doesnt make since ..???..! from an observer point of view i think the problem comes from opensat/azbox devs..they are just not good enough even having the full sources ,,or simply they just dont want to spend money and pay correct ppl to make a good software ....any way ,,i had a bad feeling about this company since the SD boxes ...their politics is make a big publicity to sell maximum boxes all around then change to something else...if nothing happen very soon this box will die and only be used as a multimedia centre ..youtube ..mkv ..divx , you can forget about sat
