    Recorded files to dvd

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with a problem I have just encountered with
    files recorded with ProgDVB.
I am using a Technotrend SkyStar 1 dvb pci card and I used to use PVAstrumento to demux my recorded files, then Mpeg2Schnitt, then IfoEdit.

However, for some reason when using PVAstrumento, I get the following message:

    "Stream info for
    C:\ProgDVB\Record\test.mpg

    ***
    *** PVAStrumento 2.1.0.17
    *** running at 06-28-2007 11:33
    ***
Pre-Scanning input. May take some time.
    ALERT> No streams found.
ALERT> Try relaxed semantics if TS recording.
ALERT> No System Header found. MPEG-1 stream ??

    (Autosaving log to /dev/null.txt)
    Cannot save to /dev/null.txt

I can replay the files within ProgDVB but not put them on to disk.

    Thanks in anticipation, Baz

If your card is a proper SS1 and not the new SS1 ci then you should have no problems using most encoding software.
Record to mpeg, not pva but make sure that in - settings - device options, that "Receive Mpeg2 from skystar1" is NOT checked, then you can encode to dvd, vcd, etc without problems.
I use Winavi to encode to dvd format without a problem m8, btw make sure you have the correct codecs installed, i use the klite codec pack which is free.

    Hi Sleepy
Thanks for replying so promptly. I must apologise for taking so long to respond to you (been busy at work and play).
I have followed your advice and used the settings you recommend: record to mpeg, uncheck box "receive mpeg2". I can now process the files in PVAstrumento. But when reviewing the video and audio files in Mpeg2Schnitt, there is no audio sound, even though there is an audio file.
However, when replaying the files back within progdvb, there is sound!!
    Very strange - Any ideas?
    Regards, Baz

Some utilities expect the audio to be on a fixed ID in the mpeg file and if it isn't then they are not clever enough to look for an alternative. Generally those recorded from channels with dual audio will not have the second audio on the correct ID.

I view SS1 MPGs and DVDs with WinDVD but some that don't play will open ok with Nero Showtime. If I author a DVD using Nero then it will play OK.
