    navigo updates ?

    hi

now that it seems the pctailor site is dead , does anyone have links to info and files for the navigo ( that used turbodog ) which I altered to use tom tom files a year or two back ?

I am looking for any new files , maps , speedcam files or anything else to update it from the previous files that used to exist on the pctailor site

mine is the navigo 1 I think , but any info that may be relevant is most welcome

    thank you in advance

echelon - Once you have got tomtom onto the navigo/f&h units, you can update using the map, postcode and speedcam files very kindly posted by Russell1 in the TomTom Go section of Satpimps, without any problem.

Make sure you use the maps without IG Routes or ALG, such as the latest map v870.3417 here...

    https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showpost....1&postcount=15

Use the activation tools also posted by Russell1, you will need the device ID from your existing tomtom navigator to activate the new map. Tap on the status bar at the bottom, then on the box marked 'version 7.xxx'. On the next page there will be a list of info, at the bottom is the device ID in the form of 10 alphanumeric digits with a space in the middle - ignore the space.

You can also find the device ID in 'navigator.bif' in the root of the SD card.

    Hope this helps!:respect-048:

I was editing while you was reading.

Come to think about it, I'm not sure 7.910 is absolutely essential... v7.xxx onwards is probably okay, but I guess you might as well have the latest one that will work.

What version is on your navigo?

I should have a version of 7.910 doctored to go onto the navigo somewhere - I can upload to megaupload or something if you want it.

    ok , thank you

I have done that and found its actually running v7.910 and found that 10 character alpha-numeric code too

so I guess I now need to somehow sort this sd card to run the latest 870 maps instead of 830 maps

I have copied the card and created a new one for messing with LOL

    Good idea!

Copy the mobilenavigator folder from the old card onto the new card and add the map folder I linked to above. You can add the latest speed cams later, when it's working.

The hardest thing to get your head round is the map activation. Use the BBS tools that Russell1 posted, or if you like you can pm your device ID and I'll email you a .m eta.dct file to add to the map folder and activate the map.

Any probs, give us a shout.

ok , think its all done now

the problem I had with the bbs tools was it was complaining about the m eta txt file , so after studying the tutorial a few times I decided to edit the one in the bbs window , removing everything in there and copying and pasting the lines from the 870 maps m eta txt file into it , at that point when I pressed activate , it did so instead of giving me an error message from the original m eta txt file , and then I had the dct installed

booted the navigo and it says tt is 7.910 and is using 870.3417 maps with my unit serial number

so I added the speedcams and pois and seems ok

thanks again for all the help m8

dont seem to see many of these about now , so wondering if they can still be bought or any other equivalents that allow the same tricks to be used on them ?

want to buy another one if possible , or a similar unit that I can do the same tricks with like tt 7.910 and latest tt 870 maps etc ( as above )

also seems as if all the old sites have all disappeared so are there any sites still covering this unit ? ( there was pctailor , navsoon and a few others but cant seem to find an active site any more , tried mobilepassion but got nowhere )

    addendum

ps:- I used the lates bbs tools posted by satpaul and made them a sticky as well , but left the old one up as it contains all the instructions etc

hi m8 , know how you feel , but once I was pointed in the right direction and used the newest bbs tools posted by satpaul and the 870 map posted by russ , it all was surprisingly easy but remembering what we did years ago is harder( currently on tt 7.910 and maps 870 )

I have now updated igo 8 as well to v8.3.4.142975 dated may 2010 but had to leave mio on v3 from about sept 2007 , which I believe is an older version of igo anyway

it can all be fitted on a 1 gig sdcard but ideally use a 2 gig sdcard so you can add games and mp3 etc too

I tried a few sites like the following :-

    _http://www.navitotal.com

    _http://navmanunlocked.forumwise.com

    _http://gpsunderground.com

I've not seen anything similar for a while... the Navigo units were later sold as Fohen & Hirsch, and last off they were selling an 'ebuyer value' satnav unit which also looked like a navigo. I replaced my old one with a F&H widescreen model when they were on offer... all the files were on the simplesatnav site, the replacement for the the old pctailor site. Sadly, that too is now gone.

I was wondering if the same files worked on that foehn and hirsch model ?

seems strange that those old sites are gone with seemingly nothing to replace or supercede them

at least I have updated the tomtom and igo ones to more modern versions , in the case of the tomtom it was only new maps , pois and speedcams etc , following your tips and help

    found this info too

TomTom v7 on Navigo II FOEHN & HIRSCH

    (SD in PC)
    1. Unrar to SD
    (SD in satnav)
    2. From main menu select system>3rd page>map path and set mappath to sdmmc\mobilenavagator\mobilenavag ator.exe
    3. From main menu select navagation to run TT, this will launch TT but crash/stop due to map error.(only need this step to generate bif file)
    (SD in PC)
    4. Run fast activate, select update **** then select maps, give it a min to finish.
    (SD in satnav)
5.From main menu select navigation to run TT, this will launch TT, if worked it should run OK.

This is for F&H, the menu will prob slight diff on navigo. Not sure if you have option to set map path, if not look at this, you may have to use active sync to hack it

Many thanks for the info . My latest map is the v870.3406 and need to update my 2 satnavs .My Navigo v2 only has TT on it , but the V1 has Miomap ,Igo & TT on the same SD card and work from shortcuts on the desktop [ I hacked the registry when I first got it ],so it boots straight into WIN CE but all the maps on this model are now sadly out of date . I will update TT on v2 as soon as I get a minute.

    just installed a 4th one , primo 9.2.1 .179499 feb 15 2011 as well

    so now got tt7.910 with maps 870 , primo 9.2.1 , igo8.3.4 and mio 3.3 running

    a1.rar its called _http://uploaded.to/file/icxnac1z/

please note I have changed the sys.ini file to say SDMMC instead of storage

also changed the baud rate to 57600 and port to port number 7 on my navigo

if adding icons to the navigo make sure they are 48 x 48 .ico icons or 57x57 .ico icons in the icon folder

not been able to find a garmin one yet !

@echelon ,many thanks . just got igo and getting a1.rar now .
Have you included any help files ? . I'm now a bit rusty at installing software on these Navigos and as much help as I can get ;-)
Are the maps for igo easy to get hold of ?

no I havent included anything that wasnt already there , but the links I gave earlier have them

file is below and has most of what you need included

use the same CONTENT/POI on both igo8 and primo921

    _________________________________ _________________

also download and use the same map on both igo8 and primo921 by copying it into the content/map folder

its named United Kingdom_83_NQ_2011.Q1_110405.fbl and is about 78 meg in size , from the pack download on one of those sites mentioned earlier ( too big to upload here )

The F&H models were virtually the same, and the same method was be used to put the software on. Additionally, the simplesatnav site had lots more stuff relevant to the F&H models, including widescreen versions of software, and new menus with games, etc.

IIRC the sites were shut down due to pressure of legal action from copyright holders.

some of the details I posted include different res files , but I use 320 x 240 on my navigo

seems to me we could do with finding some of that stuff , including the new menus etc

    cant all be copyrighted
