What's the idea of installing e2 on pendrive?

I mean,
Is it possible to leave the official fw on dom and install e2 on pendrive?
Does it install a bootloader that will let me choose what fw I want to load?

I m asking this coz before using azup, you must first place the pendrive on the box and do an update..

I don't think this would leave the dom untouched, with the official fw on it...
Am I right?

One useful thing that installing to USB drive would be if you already have a E2 thats working in your DOM (what does D.O.M stand for anyway?) and then be able to install a new image on USB for testing it without messing with your setup.
But is this possible today, have eg. 1.0.0 beta in DOM and 1.0.1 on USB and choose between them simply by plugging or unplugging the USB drive before reboot?
This is getting quite close to the multiboot feature found on the Dreamboxes.

I believe that the reason for having those 'turning wheels' while zapping channels lies in the simple E2 feature: it runs a TP scan in background, sometimes resulting in numerous 'test' channels, data channels, etc.
This often causes an endless loop to E2, resulting in box freeze -no response to RCU.
A solution would be to implement into E2 a new option to Enable/Disable background scanning of TPs (like the one in PLi image for Dreamboxes).
Btw. another reason for box freeze might be the various channel lists that beta-testers upload into AZboxes - many are overloaded with tons of similar TPs or simply outdated (take a peek with some channel editor -you'll be surprised what a mess you'll see there!).
I'd strongly suggest that we come out with a unique list with updated TPs for the two major sats, Astra 19.2E and Hotbird 13E, and stick to them while testing E2. Everything else will go too far to successfully track down possible causes of stuttering, freezes, etc.

@ the Ripper & team:
Would you please try to implement "Disable scanning of TPs" in next release... so we can even use the box without having the green screen error specially when we power it on without beeing connected to internet.

and i am using DSteam 3.0.1 release and TVmode is just perfect for me using cccam 2.1.1.

Yes, but what is illegal about using a local CCcam server for providing the card to your AZBox?
It's relatively easy to set up, and allows you to use the current firmwares for decrypting channels from your subscription card.

It s just that, what they ve done in the summer was the easy part...
Now it s the hard part (fixing bugs)...
Sure, the improvement is going to be a lot slower but we ll never get the "fan on/off in one month" kind of development..
At least, till we have a stable fw...

The_Ripper had to make drivers from scratch, then STC timmer wich took him about 2 weeks to get done, what da hell do u want more? Now with time and rest, it's point and shoot bug! That's LOGIC!
