I was also looking into it too. I think cifs is the way to go.
I tried copying the cifs.ko from my vu+ to /lib/modules on the azbox and running
    Code:
    insmod /lib/modules/cifs.ko
But I get keep this error
    Code:
insmod: can't insert '/lib/modules/cifs.ko': invalid module format
I need to be able to connect my Elite to my windows PC so I can watch movies.

Can anybody shine any light on the problem?

Tuner not work after few hours

After few hours my dmesg was fullyfied by this error and I can't tune anything

    i2c-adapter i2c-0: Unable to perform I2C read - RM_TIMEOUT
    cx24116_readreg: reg=0x1f (error=-22)
There are some other rare error about firmware timeout

    Any news ?

    Is the bug acknowledged ?

Sorry for my weird english, but I'm falling asleep after my workhours.

    Best Regards

    Fabio

I'm not sure if the direction (place) is completely right! That file maybe needs to be in the_ripper folder on /lib place.

Guys use NFS. I'm using it without any problem.

    mkdir /mnt/nfs
    mount -t nfs xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:/xxxx /mnt/nfs -o rw,nolock,intr,soft,udp

What I would like to see fixed now is Aspect Ratio, as I use my Azbox with a 4:3 TV and so all 16:9 channels or movies in Media Player are stretched.
If there is a way to do this manually, as the A/V settings don't work on the GUI, please let me know.

I finally got him to test, the scan works prefect with Diseq with 4 LNBs.
The picture is also good, only the sound works for some stations, but that was already known. I miss putting the azbox on standbay.
for the rest prefect. With big thanks to the ripper and the team :respect-062:

    :cheers2:

What drove me to this question were the numbers you posted as to the data throughput. It seems there is a lot of power hidden in the machine.

Unfortunately I cannot experiment with my own machine to find out, as this is the only receiver we have in the family, and accidentallly zeroing the box would lead to a lot of hassle :woohoo-022:

Guys, this can be done in original firmware. If you want to watch a recorded program while you are recording something else then hit the <menu> button to the left of the <OK> and choose recorded programs then select what you want to watch.
Edit : you have to wait until your program has started to record before this method works
PS Have been following this development for some time and want the thank the_ripper mickeysa sattommy and team for the great job they are doing. I'm in the same boat as Mike here as I can't experiment yet or I risk divorce !

    Clock problem

    Hi to all,
I am reading this thread since the beginning without loosing any post...

I did not see if anyone noted that the clock is running faster.
My box is a Premium with dvb-t tuner, image is .28.

Congratulation to the_ripper and the team for the great job they are doing.

    Regards.

    Subtitles

    Ok Guys,

Just did a few tests with regards to subtitles. They should be working with the currently released version:

-MKV internal subs -> pres aux button to select then
-Srt subs -> name the srt file excatly the same as video file (capitals matter!) and start the movie. Just press aux, and ok, to enable the subs. (tested working with avi, mkv, and vob).

    Regards,

    Sattomy

I tried to connect to my vu+ duo's internal harddisk using the command
    Code:
    mkdir /mnt/vu
    mount -t nfs 192.168.0.16:/Harddisk/movie /mnt/vu -o nolock,intr,s
    oft,udp
But I get this error message
    Code:
Unable to receive; errno = Connection refused

Does E2 provide support 2TB HDDs or this is something related with hardware/low level boot codes?

Currently I'm using 1TB HDD but need a larger one since I want to move my large avi archive directly into the box. I'm really impressed with the mkv performance/ cpu usage with E2 hfmls published...

.srt subtitles are working ok with a .mkv file!!!
go forward - backward are not and the box hangs. I have a Premium.

I think that this version .28 is ok to use and most important is the audio issue with DVB-S.
Please do something coz my wife and kids will kill me

Also NFS mounting works absolutely perfect and this image is a proof that the box is awesome in hardware terms. Perfect for mediaplayer and Sat .

    @sattommy

    Just the info...

I've tested 10 mkv movies with average bitrate( not as high as hfmls). There are two files that have no problem. There are five files that run just first 1-3 minutes then freeze or sometimes hang. The rest three are not playable. I'm using usb docking, when I connect the docking, E2 always say something like this "no files can playable on this media" It seems that media player also don't regconize .mts files(avchd) as original firmware do. It's very surprised to see the CPU run just at 1x% when playing HD movie.

I will be really happy(dream comes true) if idx/sub will support for the media player since almost mkv movies in my country use idx/sub(rip from dvd). Thank you so much for your job !!!

PS: my box is old board version azbox premium(tuner fixed). using 1080i50 resolution.

    Hello

I have seen some movies hang within the first minutes. somehow gstreamer demuxer gives error then. I have not had a single one not playing at all. Can you provide samples?

Which codecs are used within the MKVs? h264 for now is the only one working with mkv. I need samples of others

    BTW,

I found an alternative solution for .sub files:

    http://www.kadifeli.com/fedon/perlscr.htm

Of course a direct support will be perfect.
