    Install Barry Allen on Nabio

Have sent to tmp and did a manual install, installed successfully but won't reboot, display goes blank have tried this several times but I have to unplug to reboot, should the attributes be changed in Barry Allen. Am I missing something here worked fine with Gemini 3.7.

if you used the plugin method for barry allen then it can sometimes go wrong. There is a telnet version that is listed on alsa+. If you have barry allen installed (the flash) the you will have a sub directory called mbimages.

it's as kegnkiwi says mate, do the telnet method it's quite easy, just open a telnet session rename the barryallen file to [barryallen.ipk] without the brackets...then type cd hit enter...then exactly as i've put here.... ipkg install /tmp/barryallen.ipk ..... hit enter then just watch it install.

Thanks guys sorry for the late reply was away all day took the easy way out and reflashed box this morning with Gemini 3.7 then installed barry allen without any problems, now have Nabiloblackhole installed and running on usb but I must try this telenet stuff (tomorrow night) never had any luck with it so far but canthackit has made it sound very easy, can I do this with opendbedit for 800 I see there is a telenet section under options. Was never able to get the hang of DCC for some reason.

In windows go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt

    or

Start > Run then type cmd

In the command prompt window type telnet followed be your box ip

    For example

    telnet 192.168.1.2 and hit enter

Then just type your login and password when prompted and your in a telnet session and can type any commands you wish

Give it a try, as a test once in telnet type ps and hit enter and it will list all running processes on your box

The pdf will help if you want to learn more

Tried it TNT through command prompt but no good "telenet is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" (running XP home) this is how I typed the command prompt, telenet 192.168.X.XXX and then I hit enter

telnet then the IP of your dreambox IE telnet 10.0.0.10

If telnet is not installed go to control panel / add remove programs / add windows components, find and add telnet (It may ask you for the disk )

Your getting that message because you are spelling it wrong, its telnet not telenet

I don't own a dm but it shouldn't be any different than any other linux box

It should ask for login which is probably root which you type then hit enter,
then it should ask for password which you type and hit enter again

I'm sure someone with a dm800 will correct me if I'm wrong and it differs from the above

The password will be the same as that used with flashfxp, for commecting with your Dreambox.
If you are familiar with flashfxp, why not use that for transferring files to and from the dreambox? It works with the 800 exactly as it does with the 7000 series.

Its worth sorting because its not a good idea to leave the default password in place and you need telnet to change that unless theres another way

this is thanks to KarlPowell, i never new that i had to set it up...... i always had that problem with command prompt as well.

just like to point out if you are going to install it there's a slightly different path for Vista...............control panel>progs and features>turn windows features on or off.

    hope you get there mate.

    regards: canthackit
