Best on the market at the moment mate is pioneer plasma and 2nd place panasonic plasma , LCDs have still not caught up to plasma picture quality.:applause-003::applause-003:

Just combine a Humax HD box with the above and the results are stunning in 1080i or sometimes 720 p is better depending on the source material. also no need to buy blue ray box as latest Sony DVD recorders output in 1080P and will give new life to you DVDs nearly as good as blue ray.

if you mean the samsung9500 then any hd box will have a better picture as the the samung only outputs at best rgb , hd boxes will output all SD channels by upscaling to 720p or 1080i.

I have an arion af8000 hdcl. which upscales sd to 1080 and the result is astounding,,,, pity about the backup with firmware, but otherwise pleased:respect-010:

Is he using the same telly as you?? you have to compare like with like to make a decent comparison and then even individuals differ on their opinions.

i am using it on my pioneer lx508.i also have my mates humax hdci 2000 and the samsung pictures connected by scart beats the humax connected by hdmi
im now trying to upgrade to a hd receiver(not the humax) and i am seriously considering the topfield 7710 pvr. apparrently it is the best sd upscaller out there

try setting the humax to not upscale to 1080i or 720p on sd channels , doing this may make the picture better as the tv will do the upscalling.
