    Nice one Oscar.

Thats the first time I've ever seen reasonably priced C120's

However I've just bought the Goldenmedia talked about in this thread. I'm just impatiently waiting for it to arrive lol. I've bookmarked that seller though.

I was going to buy one for my 1.3 prime focus dish, as I also use C120 flange, but other things are higher on the priority list right now .

Well its arrived and it turns out it fits perfectly with the covers removed. Thanks Cosworth. Ive even manged to put half of the cover back after cutting the feedhorn bit off with a hacksaw. To look at it you cant even tell its been modded, plus adding the cover over the LNB part back adds a bit more protection against the ellements.

As far as signal goes I cant honestly say I can see a significant improvement, most sats still give the same signal strength as they did before with my Invacom C120.

However, and this is the biggy. It goes a hell of a long way towards addressing my signal issues between 11590 and 11680 in the low band and 12400 to 12480 in the high band.

These issues are still caused by the vbox and at some point I do intend to construct a Faraday cage for it. But because this new LNB is very high gain it seems it now gives enough signal for the box to cope at these frequencies, albeit at a lower strength than the rest of the channels on this sat and other sats at these frequencies. Again this loss is due to the vbox and the noise it creates.

So all in all its worth the money just for that improvement. TV10 on 1W at 12437H was by far the worst for this and always gave pixelations and breakups, but now it seems perfectly watchable.

I read on here that this LNB gives best improvements in the rain, so once it rains again I will test this out.

Has anyone successfully optimised the skew on 1W without it have a detrimental effect on the rest of the sats in the arc ?

Or am I flogging a dead horse ?

I really miss the skew settings we all used to have before universal LNB's became the norm.

Made up with this new LNB.

Its giving me 67% signal on all of the footie feeds today on 3E from a 1.2M dish near Manchester. The cut off threshold on my VU box was always about 49% anything lower than that and the signal would start to break up, but its also lowered this cut off threshold to about 43% too. So I now have loads of signal spare for all the footie feeds on 3E and all other feeds as well.

I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about getting a new one.

How are you finding yours Catseye ?

    Ive not tested it yet
My dish is on the side of the house so 100 times harder due to access to change over
Plus didn't help going to the pub Friday & Saturday night
Meaning no motivation to do it

skew should only be used on a fixed dish. on a motor the skew is taken care of as the dish tracks the arc. Just align it so it looks plumb at 0 deg

i need to install my single input at some point. Maybe the Long bank holiday weekend coming

    This is definitely not true.

Years back we had skew adjustment on our motorised dishes not just per sat but on a per channel basis on the higher end boxes. The skew setting was only phased out when universal LNB's became the norm and when most sats became much stronger, meaning the skew setting was less important.
Skew is needed because there is no up and down in space. Sat operators do try to align the sats to the arc so they are all level but they are not always successfull. In theory what you say is correct ( but only if your location was directly on the Meridion line ) however in practice it simply isnt. I remember a sat called kopernikas that was notorious for being out of alignment with the rest and the skew for this sat had to be set a good 10 degrees different to the others.

If you peak the skew on 1W then go to 28E you will see a significant drop in signal and the same visa versa. For the most part most sats are not too badly out of alignment, but 1W is the exception. Its impossible to maximise reception from this sat without it causing a drop in signal to the rest. Basically, you have to adjust the skew to have less than peak performance on all other sats, to get a higher signal level on 1W. An unhappy medium so to speak. This is why I really miss boxes still having skew settings.

If you dont believe me go to 1W and adjust the skew so you get the strongest possible signal, the try 28E and you will absolutely see less signal than you normally do.

Where did you get your single input Golden Media? Is it a 201 or the newer 201+?

IT'LL Be the newer 201+ its near impossible to find the older 201 , i have one from several years ago but the newer 201+ is quite an upgrade i have tested both so i do know about older and newer Golden Media LNB's : )

    The plot thickens!

I checked with "R-A." on e Bay. He said he thought the one he was selling was the 201+ but he would confirm with the Golden Media themselves.

This was the response from GM :-

    ----------

"the 201+ is not produced any more since quite some time. We have only the 201S Standard.

You are right I haven’t changed the model number in my system.

All of my customers prefer the 201S as they say the performance is even better.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / With best regards

    Rxxx Cxxxxx"

Any way for the sake of just £7.99 I'm going to give it a go.

The LNB I Have is Golden Media GM-202 Universal Twin LNB 0.1 dB
This has an Orange Cap where as the older Golden Media had a Yellow Cap and your seller is quite right the old version is simply is not produced any more it was at least 5 years long before Lock downs since it was last available now only the new version is being sold it has improvements and the older version for me Cap started to fade and crack somewhat and Signal from it began to drop it was not really designed to last IMHO but for the price its a cheap and very effective LNB .

Any way for the sake of just £7.99 I'm going to give it a go.
its not any type of risk involved you are getting a fair price for a very decent LNB i hope you do see signal increases with it ,
    Good luck : )

    This is getting confusing.

The LNB I bought is the 202+ not the 201+ and the cheapest you can get it is £15. So its the 202+ that I'm very pleased with.

If youve found one at £7.99 I doubt this can be the latest version. I also bought the 202 for a tenner thinking that was the latest. Its not lol and thats still in the cupboard unopened.

202+ is twin output. 201 is the single output.
It seems the latest version of the single output is 201S. No one shows the correct photo's of the single in their adverts!

It would be interesting if you could compare the 202+ and the 202 you have - just to see if there is any difference.
It may the 202 you have is actually the newest and is a 202S!

Here is an example of just how good this LNB is.

As previously stated my threshold cut off on my VU+ used to be 49%, if it dropped to this or bellow the picture would start to pixelate, but now as you can see in the screenshot its happily locked at 42% on the Greek HD channels on 3E ( these are weaker than the SD ) I've also seen it now remain locked as low as 38% on some feeds too.

I've yet to work out though why the encryption details do not show in my infobar for these HD channels, yet it displays perfectly for the SD variants. So the CAID display and the BISS indicator are missing and just blank.

Sorry to stray off topic here, but how do you get the HD channels to open? I've entered everything as usual but not success. I assume the keys are the same as sd channels, or is that where I am going wrong?

Add this to your Oscam DVBAPI and the HD channels will open on both 3E and 39E as long as you have the correct SD keys.

Added a couple more. For boxes that require you to set a dummy ECM request with CAID FFFF for services with a constant CW which are shown as an unencrypted service because they dont have PMT ID support. ( Mainly VU+ ) These are for 3E and 39E too.

    Code:
    A: ::000A 2600:000000:1FFF ; ERT 1 SD
    A: ::0014 2600:000000:1FFF ; ERT 2 SD

    A: ::0001 2600:000000:1FFF ; ERT 2 HD
