I've just fitted a UK legal conversion kit to my bike and am quite pleased with the outcome.
Has anyone else on here converted their bike into an Ebike?

As you can see, I had to mount the battery on the back rack as there wasn't enough room of the frame.

Have you left the gearing alone ?
I have read that you benefit even more by make changes as I guess you only have a single gear crank ?
No. I haven't changed anything gear wise. It has the original 9 speed cassette and a 44 tooth chain wheel.

What type of conversion did you do? I have a drop bar rim brake road bike that I'm thinking of converting, so a front wheel conversion would seem to be the easiest. However, these aren't cheap and I've read that a mid-drive motor is preferred by many.
Mine is a mid drive motor. The controller is build into the motor so less clutter.
They aren't cheap (it's the battery that accounts for about half of the price) but a lot cheaper than buying a new Ebike.

I've been thinking about this for years, which conversion kit and battery did you buy .
I fitted a front drive conversion to my bike. Rack mounted 11Ah battery and PAS Pedal Assist System. Very pleased with it and with with the help of a few cable ties it looks pretty decent too. It was a reasonably easy job to do and has me cycling more than I have done since I was a lad.IMG_2787.jpeg
