    45w - China Radio

    hey guys.

im struggling to pull this in, but the weird thing is, i can get from 53east - through to 30w, 34.5w, 40.5w, 58w, and 61w.....but i cannot find 45w - my arc does tail off at 45e and worsens after that though...connected ?

    its so bugging...

someone has suggested nudging the motor a fraction west (to the right) on the pole, anyone agree with that? they say im slightly too far over on east..

i will eventually go up and have a look, but when im getting such good western sats, and most of the arc generally...and yes, i probably am being anal, but i just want my setup to be perfect...

    thanks all

William-1 scanning from South east region
    Using
    Octagon SX88 + 88cm dish SQ = Signal Quality
    Intelsat-14 @ 45° west 11605 H 990 China Radio International SQ=73%
    Using
    TM5402HD M3 +100cm Dish+Inverto Black Ultra Lnb-Signal Quality in dB
    Intelsat-14 @ 45° west 11605 H 990 China Radio Inter===17.5dB
    Using
100cm Gibertini + TM6902HD for Signal Quality readings,
    Intelsat-14 @ 45° west 11605 H 990 China Radio International 90% SQ
    Using
    (100cm Gibertini + TM6902HD + IBU Lnb Signal Quality in %) ( TM5402HD M3 + 100cm Gibertini =SQ in dB)
    Intelsat-14 @ 45°west 11605 H 990
China Radio International 90% SQ 16.6 dB

Another possibility is that there is a powerful ground based transmitting aerial directly in line with 45W from your location.

It doesn't need to be in the same band as it could just overwhelm the LNB, swamping the much, much weaker satellite signals.

I HAVE FOUND IT - finally - but ive had to fudge my USALS longitude by .7 - in order to get it, which has blown out 30w and 34.5w and my ARC generally....nice to know it is there tho, and not blocked.

still makes no sense tho, how i can go from 53e to 58w - but misses out 45w....wtf - surely arc is ok, or is it...

i shouldnt have to fudge usals

It sounds as though your arc is good.

It might be that by tweeking the setting by 0.7 (is that a manual change of the elevation?) it now rejects interference from a local transmitter.

    UPDATE GUYS:

long and short of it is - the two receivers I thought were the bee knees for feed hunting turned out to NOT be the case ...

the good news is, my ARC was good, spot on in fact - 16db on 45w.

the bad news - my brand new EDISION MIO Plus 4K - cannot handle low symbol rates, this is why i couldnt lock it in.

further bad news - my second backup, non e2 stb - the SX88 4K which, again, i thought was good for feeds - ALSO couldnt handle the 990 SR of the CR TP on 45w

the good news is, i had another receiver, Octagon SF8008 in the kitchen, which i "borrowed" - and that locked it in on a BLIND SCAN - no problem !

just goes to show how hit and miss this hobby can be!!!!

the SF8008 gets a promotion to the lounge, the Edision will be sold, the SX's will probably also be sold now...

for clarity i have both the SX88 and the SX88 4K - the 4K wouldnt lock it, either blind scan or manual scan, the NON 4K model - did lock it, but not on blind scan, only on a manual scan, and THEN it doesnt show you the results, it flashes up, and dumps the channels into the RADIO section, which you have to switch too.

I have tried for a while to get that transponder at 45W with my solo2 but without any success. Just tried today with my Viark sat 4k and no problem.
