    Nintendo Switch

Her in doors and myself want buy our grandchildren (twin boys) a Nintendo Switch for Xmas.
We have no clue about the item and want some advise please.
Can 1 consul and 2 handsets be enough so that each boy can play independently and against each other.
    Help would be appreciated.

Online gaming requires a subscription, some games have LAN gameplay though so you don't need an online membership for those. As for being able to play independently - yes, of course they can do that.

Nintendo Switch IS OLD + 4 Years only a fool with too much money would buy one now .
Nintendo Switch Lite came out last Crimbo £80 cheaper but does not have the two controllers
i would think the X Box One would be a better buy even with buying a 2nd controller
at least the X Box One is not going to get old and there is many games available for it especially GTA V
which most young people are into these days you do not require any subscriptions but you may have to buy a few Shark cards but its a small sacrifice in order to achieve complete satisfaction and peace and quiet

@Barney, I have a switch and love it, the Switch light version is rubbish and a cheap crappy version compared to the original switch. Also mine is modded and plays all the games (for free). I have thousands of games for it, it also can use many emulators and has lots of homebrew. I don't regret for one minute buying it. It's a good hand held device and it works great it docked mode as well.
For children - this is better, there's no need to hook up to a TV so a couple of kids playing head to head in a room can do that - while the seniors watch TV or something.
Xbox/PS needs a dedicated TV for each system and is not portable or can be played in a car or on holiday etc - that's where the switch comes into it's own.

I don't regret buying it at all - and for kids it's a good option as many games are specifically made for kids and the game catalog is huge.

Do the kids ever get to play with it mrdude ??
Switch light version is a budget clone i agree IMHO if i am wrong i will happily stand corrected .
but you make good points about Xbox/PS its probably suited to an older hard core gamer generation
OP will likely go with Original Switch for the extra controller if nothing else but i am shocked original Switch is still selling at full price £300
after 3 Years i would have thought they would have dropped a lot by now to make way for the newer Light version ,
i still have my original PS1 i never advanced to today's gaming world i like old school gaming

I have just ordered one off E**y New £26.99. Over 50 have been sold, 20 in last hr.
It is either a pricing mistake or more likely someone has hacked his account. I expect I will be getting a refund shortly.

You can play ps1 games on a hacked switch :-), also Amiga games and many more. I bought mine a few years ago and it was cheaper - about £250 with a game (crash bandicoot 1,2,3). Maybe on black friday you'll get a deal - sometimes it's good to wait and see.

Also, ALDI is doing a black friday deal for Nintendo Switch for £229. Aldi also have an app and if you spend £xxx you get money back - so you might save even more (which is a bonus).

Asda is also doing a black friday deal on the switch:

    Nintendo Switch (Neon Red/Blue) - £239.99
Nintendo Switch Lite (Yellow) - £169.99
Nintendo Switch Lite (Coral) - £169.99
Nintendo Switch Lite (Grey) - £169.99
Nintendo Switch Lite (Turquoise) - £169.99

the switch is a great purchase for the kids,,,,even for an ***** " fortnite is addictive " for online gaming the switch needs a subscription as does the xbox,,,,,,up to 4 players can play certain games in co-op mode. the kids will love it

Last year i bought the Pandora Box Arcade with 3,000 HD Games , no internet or subscriptions needed it was decent for the money half the price of the Nintendo Switch without needing any extras or having to buy multiple games .
its better than the switch for the sole reason it connects via HDMI To any modern TV and picture is not compressed down to crap like it is on the switch .
That is just one alternative which costs a lot less and kids can enjoy some proper retro gaming
