1.2m dish on a Diseq motor ? anyone running one without issue?

i keep toying with the idea of a 1.2m dish - possibly the Gibby - but wonder if theres others?

Anyone successfully running a 1.2 on a H_H motor? obviously the lighter the better i know weight is an issue on some motors...

    thanks!!

My new 15.1 kg OP125L Gibi ready to go on my existing TM2600 (with extra brackets thanks to speedy_04's pictures) when I get around to it.

Although I am finding her smooth curves quite tactile.... not easy to put her outside when I like running my hand over her curves

Basically the diameter of most stab motors and TM-2600 is not big enough as Gibi dish brackets are designed to go on a larger diameter pole so motor pole requires "padding out" to make secure. You can see this clearly on M*****'s picture here

    Attachment 69139

    and Speedy_04's picture here.

    Attachment 69150

    Speedy's shows it very clearly.

The dish needs to be pushed away from pole so it doesn't hit the mount, This can be done with the brackets that arrive in box so you only really need the extra bracket to pad out diameter.

Speedy_04 makes this clear in post #26 on this thread https://www.satpimps.co.uk/showthrea...l-issues/page2

    Attachment 69149

This pic shows the larger diameter pole it is meant for and the body is very close to mount and needs be pushed forward using the 2 Gibertin box section brackets supplied that Speedy_04 refered to.

    mount.jpg

I'm "padding out" by using 2 angle brackets inside the gibi bracket but you can do as mals*t and speedy_o4 has done of course.

sorry i have been a bit busy and pm has been replied with full instructions. the pics i posted is really what i was advised on how to install the dish. i changed to a STAB 120 HH motor due to my technomate tm2600 served its time and had to much play. i would have used a dark motor but well we will leave that for another day lol

well guys - i did it...

went for a Laminas OFC-1200 in the end, it finally arrived from France on Friday, and I put it up Saturday... unbelievably light, and has survived the recent 50mph winds...

getting great signal (as you would expect from a 1.2m)

    some pics attached

6 Months later ....Finally got around to installing my Gibertini OP 125L on a new Technomate-2600 MK3. Now working a treat!

Few pictures of my install which I thought may be useful for others.

    B.jpg D.jpg F.jpg G.jpg H.jpg J.jpg TM-2600 MK3 20KG.JPG

The first thing I will remark on is the build quality of Gibertini. All feels way better than I'm used to for our home use sat hobby. The Gibertini is quality machined and all the holes line up perfectly and is a charm to put together with nice simple illustrative instructions. Elevation adjustment quality needs a mention is extremely accurate too.

Make sure you have a magnetic spirit level as shown in the picture to make sure your mount is perfectly vertical to make sure you follow the arc.

Dish installation is exactly the same as any USALS motor provision so won't cover that here. Search out the guides in the forum if that is what you require.

Took a picture of the TM-2600 manual as it now says on the front it will take up to 20KG which I haven't seen that anywhere else on the web (usually shows 15KG) so as the Gibi OP 125L weighs 15.5KG that's nice to know. Mine's on a ground mount next to a fence so shouldn't get too much stress from high winds hopefully.

The other main issue that we all know about, when mounting the Gibi on a USALS motor is the diameter of motor arm is too small for the diameter of Gibi brackets The Gibi is designed to mount on a pole 55mm-100mm so we need some brackets to "pack out" the motor arm diameter.

I used two right angle brackets which from my pictures you will see I first tried using them at the back of the bracket. But as they are right angled, the two points of contact of brackets on motor arm just did not give enough grip to stop the heavy Gibi turning on arm even after putting self amalgamating tape on motor arm to help with grip. Rather frustrating!

So back to drawing board! Time to try them at front of bracket. Got my lump hammer and (very satisfyingly after my first failure) whacked the right angled brackets until they were at a similar angle to the front brackets on Gibi. This time as the back teeth on rear bracket can do what they are designed to do which is grip nicely. Now working a treat and nice and secure and dish finding the entire Clarke belt a treat!

    X.jpg Y.jpg

The LNB pictured is an Inverto Black Pro with Gibertini feedhorn which I did change to a Inverto Premium PLL LNB. I have also bought another IBU but will do LNB tests on my Gibi at a later date

However I did already manage to lock on EPL feed on 3W ABS-3A be it with break up, but I've never even had a sniff before on my 1.1m mesh offset with IBU. So 42dB Gain is already noticeable. I’m in the West Mids.

    3W fulham.jpg

So if you’ve fancied a Gibi on a TM-2600 MK3 ….. crack on and purchase as it works! Just make sure you have your “diameter pack out brackets” or similar!

i nearly bought a Gibby 1.25m - god it was heavy - it wouldnt fit in my boot (Audi A6 estate) - so that prevented the sale.

i wasnt looking forward to setting that up on a ladder \ extension roof due to the weight and awkwardness - fine on the ground.

I ended up buying a Laminas (as most of you know) - it was so light, and a pleasure to install.

I do have soft spot for the Gibbys

well done, good write up and pics. Enjoy.

can u get the ABS test card ok?

i get 3w with 90% but the test card still breaks up on the gibby but what i have picked up was 7w in central scotland. i could not believe it when i found a signal. i had to change to a technomate tm2600 mk3 after heavy winds damaged the previous motor and threw all sats out. but here is pics of 7w.
