I have personal experience of having to use HyperTerminal to carry out the recovery on a Spidebox and I can say that it's really tricky.

I got there in the end, but anyone who says that you just haven't read the available information properly is ignoring all the variables. It could be the Spiderbox itself, it could be your lead, it could be your port or its settings, it could be your operating system or it could be any combination of these.

    Thanks Weston.

I think it's the box in this case. I've contacted the vendor and he's replacing it. I wanted to get the gear I need flash it anyway, so not a waste. Will see what the cables etc I have do with the new (hopefully working) Box.

    Regards

    Mark

Hi Its probably your Windows 10 ...HyperTerminal should be giving you messages as soon as you switch Spiderbox on....your best option is an old Windows with 9 pin serial port connetion using RS232 null modem cable. Not sure if Putty will work for you as i have never tried it. but HyperTerminal is guarenteed to work.....Regards.

Ok, thanks KB, if the new box arrives tomorrow, I'll try it and see if I get a response. I find it Frustrating that a box sold in 2020 Won't work with the only current windows operating system.

Hi..I understand your frustation but the box is fairly old although in my opinion was and still is a very good box. Unfortunately technology nowadays changes too quickly and leaves us with all sorts of problems..thats why i still prefer the old systems.. Regards

    Hi All,

Replacement box arrived today. The new box responds on the new RS232 Com 1 card and I'm able to use the supplied instructions if I need to. The old box does no respond to the same process, which leads me to believe it's well and truly had the Richard.

    Thanks for your help everybody.

    Regards

    Mark
