There is no scenario where any games can continue be played during a lock down so finishing the Champions or E-uropa league is not possible, the eight qualifiers will probably get a bye into next years competition.

Salvaging next season should be the priority for the governing bodies now , they have 5 months to get their act together, as for the football clubs and the over-paying TV companies their finances are in total ruin, not to mention subscribers who paid for coverage they won't receive, I bet the tv companies don't give any money back to them !
you cant relegate or promote without finishing the season - all other leagues up to EFL have been abandoned. Barrow might get promoted and take Bury's place.

Looks like the European political and medical consensus for the recommencing of sporting events (without crowds) will be 31st of August, that will put pay to finishing the leagues and cups for the 19/20 season, the next Euro seasons will have to start at the beginning of September just so that the next leagues and cups can be finished by next may, this is so this years postponed European cup can be finished in June/July 21, what a mess !
    --------------------------------
The Dutch have already caved in and abandonned the 19/20 season, now the French are going to do the same for L1+2, add Belgium to the list now.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has said it plans to award next season's European places according to teams' current league positions, if La Liga cannot be completed.

That means current league leaders Barcelona would qualify for the Champions League, with the teams now in 2nd, 3rd and 4th places: Real Madrid, Sevilla and Real Sociedad. The next placed teams, including Atletico Madrid, would qualify for the ****** League.

The proposal has reportedly not been well received by La Liga. It remains hopeful that the season can be restarted, and last week its president said three possible dates were being considered, between late May and late June.

    ----------------------------
The Italian football federation (FIGC) have admitted that the Serie A season might not finish, and said that they would be discussing several alternatives if games cannot be completed.

    These options include:
    • staging play-offs
    • not having a champion for 2019-20
    • declaring the current standings final

    ----------------------------
The English Premier League said the "overriding priority is to aid the health and well-being of the nation and our communities, including players, coaches, managers, club staff and supporters".

English football authorities had agreed that "difficult decisions" will have to be made to mitigate the economic impact of the suspension of football across the country, the Premier League’s aim is to reschedule the displaced fixtures, including those played by Academy sides, when it is safe to do so."

Under current regulations, the English football season “shall terminate not later than 1 June” but the FA Board has allowed for this deadline to be lengthened, this decision will certainly favour a number of clubs, not just in the UK, but across the continent.

    29th April BBC News

Premier League bosses had let it be known just how important it was that the season be completed, pointing to the three-quarters of a billion pounds that contractually would have to be paid back to live TV rights-holders Sky and BT.

Whether the two broadcasters actually intend to demand all of the refund they are entitled to if the season cannot resume remains unclear. I understand they are considering asking to show more matches next year, or requesting a year's free extension to their current deal to mitigate the damage their businesses have suffered. But some kind of compensation will almost certainly have to be paid.

That figure sounds a bit high especially as the EPL has played 75% of games and the Chamionship has played 80% so far. The current contract worked out at around £10M per game but is dependent upon when they are shown - to arrive at that figure, it must include repeats and highlights.

Looks like top English football clubs have been dealt a European fixture ban by their own government !

UK arrivals now face a mandatory 14-day quarantine arriving back in the UK, this would include returning football players after away legs in mainland Europe.

It looks like all foreign travel has just about ended for Brits this summer along with no tourists coming in to this country either, the UK economy has just voluntarily inflicted grave damage on its self by its Corona blinkered politicians, Brexit is the least of our problems now.

Self destruction is our biggest threat to us !

Why is it ok for the french to enter the UK with the Irish without quarantine restrictions, the irish and french have also got the pandemic so why are they allowed in without checks or restrictions?

Bonkers Bojo must be planing a french trip this summer and a visit to ireland later !

On another note I read a day or so ago that 16 of the 20 EPL clubs have to all agree to changing the rules mid-season, that means that the bottom half of the league will object to a restart in case they lose out during the run in, also no home gates and whatever home advantage they might lose at neutral venues will probably tip their hand in the vote.

The season will probably end up null and void.
