Managed to get to my local 'bigger' Sainsburys this morning by 930am today - even though I am in 'stay at home' category, being over 70 (well lol!!), type 1 diab, high BP, etc - yet bog rolls shelves were already empty AGAIN!
However, least I managed to get some very necessary food I'd not had access to at Morrisons in the afternoon yesterday, then by the time I'm managed to buy a bottle of scotch and a gin, they were actually refilling the empty bog rolls shelves with 8 packs of their own brand - so I asked a lady filler-upper how many I could buy - she said 2 packs, which I duly took to the checkout.
Once there, despite her TRYING to put 2 packs of 8 through, their computer system wouldn't allow it - so GOOD in some ways yes, but bearing in mind I was buying for both myself and my self isolating daughter & family (she's a GP surgery receptionist) it was disappointing for ME, after several previous failures recently!

Went to the supermarket here in Spain this morning, had to join the queue and took 45 mins to get in. They had Security Guards on the door spraying sanitizer
on your hands and controlling entry and exit of customers. They wanted you out as quick as possible. Plenty of bog rolls LOL. Last week was crazy but today everything seemed calm after people now realise the shops are open and there is a good stock of supplies. Trouble is only one person is allowed to leave the house to shop ignore and
you could get a fine between 600 to 30,000 euros, sounds to me UK could do with some of the same.

Just got home from my local Sainsbury's. It was nice and quiet, but no tinned stuff, no toilet roll, no pasta, no sanitizers and lots of empty spaces all over the store.
Since the outbreak, we have not been able to get any pasta or sanitizers at all, so are relying on washing hands with soap.

Sainsbury's have notices everywhere telling customers that they are limited to two (I think it was) of any item. Going by all the empty shelves, they are either not policing this or shoppers are going in more than once in one trip or using multiple family members with their own trolley.
    Hopefully, things will improve.

Been using my local garage/shop a bit more than normal only to find the prices of some items are LESS than Morrison's /Tesco.
Any "trolley" shopping we need to do I do between 8pm and 10pm when the shelves are being restocked after the daily mayhem and few coughers and splutterers.
Stay healthy,be sensible and heed the government's advice .
We will get through this ,we have to -- think positive.

This virus outbreak has certainly bought out the worse in people of the UK

I never seen so much greed & selfishness ever

I popped in the supermarket enroute to work to get some beer
The store normally so dead that time of morning only one working on check out
On this morning Im sure every checkout was on & the store was rammed

I could not believe they had no beer!
This was before the pubs were told to close
    Anyway wondered around the store
There was a few toilet rolls left on the shelves
    As I walked past
An older fella must have been in his 80's
Was struggling to pick a packer up off the back of the shelf

A young woman dashed up tp the bog roll section
Began filling her trolley with the stuff
So I grabbed 2 & gave them to the old fella

I was disgusted by her behavior
So found the security fella & reported the bitch

It sickens me how this woman could just ignore the old man & think of herself

This guy most probably lived through the blitz & for what?
For some selfish bitch to behave that way

Im not a particular religious person
But it shows for many they have no moral compass at all in UK 2020

I totally agree. It is disgraceful. We live in a very selfish, me me me society and I hate it. I am glad I had my life when I did. I think I had the best of years. I don't want to be part of the future.

You can only blame the do-gooders, lack of discipline for the past 40 years has lead to what we have today.

    Think you are right
We make too many excuses for bad behaviour
    No one apologies for anything

    With the kids off school
We will soon see which parents had kids for love
& which ones had them for the benefits

I hear so many stories of parents being angry that there is no school for their children because it means they actually have to look after them and be proper parents. When I had children, my whole life was based and planned around them but parents don't want that now. They want their freedom from the responsibility of parenting.

It is difficult to compare the needs and reactions of different generations.

As an example, prior to WW2 hardly any mothers with children under the age of 15 went to work.
WW2 changed all that and as men went to war, the women kept factories rolling. In the aftermath of WW2 it became a necessity that they remained in work for various reasons, none the least because the UK needed rebuild. The 'Windrush Generation' (mainly Jamaicans) were also encouraged to settle in the UK to help in that rebuilding of society.

Capitalism is greedy. The women and the WG were generally at the lower end of the wage spectrum so were attractive to industry. As the price of commodities is governed by what the consumer will pay, costs rose significantly which in turn meant families were now forced to continued with two saleries.

Blaming parents is easy but given that it is their right to procreate, society needs to change dramatically in the UK.

I was referring to mainly mothers who do not want their children at home as it would mean having to look after them.
Lazy parents who want the children for whatever reason but don't want the hassle of parenting.
Sadly, I know quite a few where I live. I appreciate that most families now need two working parents to earn enough for a decent lifestyle.
That is a shame on our country. I hate capitalism, I hate money, I hate greed and selfishness.

Don't panic! Off licences have now been added to the list of 'essential' businesses allowed to continue trading.

Every off-licence in Northern Ireland has been ordered to shut immediately by the Executive in Stormont
this will very likely include the UK in next announcement by your PM Boris Johnson...

I hope you are wrong about rUK - BBC certainly reported today
that they could open although your article for NI is pretty clear

    Could off-licences reopen?
    Jayne McCormack
    BBC News NI political reporter
Yesterday we heard off-licences would shut as it was included on a list of non-essential businesses issued by the NI Executive - but now Justice Minister Naomi Long says that decision is under review.

Off licenses have been given essential services status in the UK, Doris Johnson can't cope with a public revolt against his draconian suspension of human rights as well as an epidemic at the same time as introducing prohibition.

When this is all over the daddy of all recessions will engulf the whole world as half of the worlds businesses will be bankrupt, we'll all need a beer to drown our sorrows !
