    Hitechbox 9000 SW confusion?

    Hi.

I understand some of us moved from 2.3.65 to the Albanian SW... recently.

Now the Albanian SW seems to have disappeared from HTTP Update, and we can now see the 2.3.65 SW with this date: 2019-09-27 21:43.

Is it really a new version of 2.3.65? Why didn't they change the number?

(I seem to remember new versions with newer dates but still the same number in the past)

Did they just reuplaod the same old SW version on a more recent date or did they actually changed something... for the better?

    Any info, please, really appreciated

    Thanks

It's certainly confusing mate, there's no doubt about that.
I'm using 2.4.07 07/25/2019 which doesn't seem to be there anymore.

    Hi glenby,

    Thanks.

I cannot check now, but I think 2.4.07 is the "albanian" SW I installed after 2.3.65 and the Predator SW.

    Thanks.

If you look at the detail, the firmware you reference is listed as 'Hitechbox9000_2.3.65_2018.10.29. bin'. So given the dating system used, it seems clear that this 2.3.65 firmware is from 29/10/2018.

Like others I'm using V2.4.07 firmware and it seems to work fine. I can only presume that the developers feel that the V2.3.65 firmware is better/more stable, so they have removed newer versions.

    Hi Weston Calling,

    Thanks for your reply.

I will stick with 2.4.07 for a while I guess, rather than trying the 2.3.65 same old one or allegedly new...

    Thanks.

Yesterday upgraded with Hitechbox9000_2.4.18_2019.10.10.b however once updated the box kept rebooting after around 15 secs sadly not giving me time to get back to a previous update stored on my memory stick.

So today I did a force_upgrade_rom.bin update then proceeded to again update to Hitechbox9000_2.4.18_2019.10.10.b and yet again my receiver again kept rebooting as before.

So I have now done a second forced update then updated my Hitechbox9000 to s/w 2.3.63 all seems okay now.

Just wondered if any body else encounted this problem with the latest software.

I have just upload the new s/w and I get rebooting after 20 secs.

Just managed to go back to previous s/w OK from USB backup. New s/w appears to have a bug.

I did not do "the two factory default settings" and had no problem.

Could t problems be due to the version from which you made the upgrade?

I updated to 2.4.18 (from 2.4.07) and everything went fine.

Hi glenby reference doing the two factory updates ( before and after ), yes both done with the upgrade Hitechbox9000_2.4.18_2019.10.10. bin. After the original update the new software worked well, however after an hour I started noticing that when I used the remote it was hanging up on some of the apps. later it started rebooting on certain apps till eventually it was rebooting after a short period of time after starting up. It appears that after the reboot if you left the receiver on it would continually start-up after a few seconds reboot and the cycle would carry on until you quickly switch off after starting up, or disconnected the power.
I am now using s/w 2.3.63 and receiver okay. I did use internet to see if I was able to find out a reason. The results were either over-heating ( my receiver is on a glass surface with plenty of open space so not not a problem with heating) another result was using receiver to soon after update ? ( not allowing receiver to settle down ) found that a strange result! The other result was to remove hard-drive ( flash-drive ) which might be causing the reboot ( have to say twice my reciver did say no memory device found in USB when in fact a device was plugged in ) I simply removed the memory stick and relocated it and the receiver acknowledged deviced located.
So I may do the update again but first remove usb device as well as taking of LNB input off the receiver! still not sure what action to take.

Mate, this may not solve anything but I had a similar problem a few versions back.It was rebooting every three or four minutes.I went back to the previous version and it was ok.Just as an experiment I downloaded first to a usb and then did the update from that and it worked.I'm not sure why maybe it was luck .I did the next few updates the same way and everything was ok but have gone back to online now.It probably wont make any difference but at least it's something different to try.

Thanks glenby for your info, the problem is my first download Hitechbox9000_2.4.18_2019.10.10. bin. was made by USB this worked okay for a while until the problems as per my last thread#15 started. After the forced update I decided to upgrade online, sadly ending with the same rebooting problem.
I will try my luck again early next week, hopefully finishing with a better result.

    Best johnhenry.

Success at last reference updating to Hitechbox9000_2.4.18_2019.10.10. bin.
After removing Lnbs in and out, also removing storage plugged into USB , I did an update online after a factory default.
The receiver rebooted and was stable, so again did the factory default. Receiver very stable and worked okay.
I then put Lnbs back in, and switched receiver back on still okay and working well.
Switch off receiver to fit flash storage back into USB. on swiching receiver back on sadly soon after it rebooted again as the problem I was getting before. Removed flash storage receiver working okay so my flash storage is the fault causing the reboots.
I plugged this flash into my computer and my computer flashed up that there is a problem with that drive did i want to fix.
So all along the problem was the flash drive and not my Hitechbox9000HD.
Thankfully I now only need replace the storage and not the receiver.

Reference my USB storage problem reported in the last thread #18, the memory stick I had been using was a USB 3.1. However when i checked specifications for Hitechbox9000HD. it states the receiver has 2 x USB 2.0 for storage, was my using a USB 3.1 causing my problem?
If this is the case I will make sure the replacement is a USB 2.0

Would be pleased for help on this subject. Best johnhenry.

Johnhenry, I had the same problem with a USB. I went through 6 or 7 until I got one that worked when I was trying the recovery
file. There have been discussions about this problem with the HB 9000/9200/9900 before but cannot find them at the moment.
I find upgrading by http better for me.
    Regards
