    CCtv connections

    Any cctv guys on here , i currently have a system set up with bnc connection camera.
    i am going to update the system to 4k that uses cat5 cables .

    So Dvr is seconds to change but camera will no longer work is there a cable adaptor available i can use just to set up until i get chance to change camera and cable,

    are you going for a poe system (power over Ethernet)

    Ive ordered Swann NVR8-8580 , 1 camera NHD-886MSD .

    But if i can plug in the nvr to work with bnc camera until i get chance to change it that would be great .

    you can not use bnc on poe,poe is 40 to 50+volts.bnc cameras 12volt,some poe cams also have a extra 12 volt lead attached,but suppling sep 12 volt to cam and then working out the cat video connections ? adapters/baluns are on e b-ay,but good luck on that,also some makes of poe cameras wont work on all poe nvrs

    had a bnc system,changed to poe system year ago,6 weeks ago lightning storm killed nvr,bought new one,found old poe cameras were non standard and not compatable with new nvr,had to replace cameras as well.

    Thanks , the system i got will work together was just hoping not to have to change it all in one day if i could add a adaptor get the lead in place before changing it over .

    Do not want the camera offline over night .

    i fit a poe/nvr camera a few years ago, the pq looks ****e when the nvr is connected to my tv but when exported and played back on an external player looks stellar. I use a wireless bridge to get the live stream to my router as i didnt want to run another ethernet cable. Works perfect. Nice to monitor whats going on when away, and show the mrs how **** the weather is at home when where off somewhere sunning it up
