Satellite Receiver Dr HD Grand Tripple

    Help!
I probably intend to buy a Dr HD Grand Tripple.
Is anybody there who can report about own experiences with this receiver?

Well it seems to have been around a while but there is no main stream support for this box, why not go for something like a VU+ ?

    I would like to know
    - how is the picture quality of standard TV channels compared to other satellite receivers (e.g. Vantage HD 8000 S, VU+ Solo2)
    - how is the sensitivity of the tuners
    - does it switch automatically from PAL to NTSC or do you have to change the video by hand
    - does it work with very high and very low symbol rates?

Picture Quality is a tough one as it depends on your display and how you have it calibrated but the Triple gives marginal better performance than my solo2

Tuner Sensitivity is where it excels as it has a built in spectrum analyser and comparing it to my solo2 it beats it hands down but my TBS6925 card beats it again.

It wont switch automatically you have to specify either PAL or NTSC

Works with very low symbol rates, Lowest i have had on it is around SR 333 there is a Radio channel on 23.5° east which has an SR of 477 and it pulls that in easily

The only bad point it's not Linux and that is where the Solo2 wins, Plenty of support but all in russian but easy to navigate round the support site.

And can use Channel list made for the Blade7000, TM5402, Clarke Tech etc.. as it uses the .ndf file format

    Regards

Thats a tough one because its not actually my main box its more of what i would call an occasional messing about with box for fringe reception the same as my TBS6925 card, the Triple more or less partners my Solo2.

So would i buy one again probably not the triple as its a little over kill for a partner box for me and i could probably have made do with the DrHD D15 starter box for what i actually use it for.

If your asking me is it Good for a main Box then that all depends on what you want feature wise, For me no its not. because i would miss the Linux side of the Solo2.

Digicon thank you very much for your superfast and very detailed reply.
Please allow me one more question:
Is the Dr HD Grand Tripple prepared for softcam plugins which would allow some EMU?

Yes no problem as soon as you patch it with the relevant patched firmware CCcam & Newcamd are present as well as Biss key entry if you so wish
