Icon7 NEW PSU Clicking after connecting up ?

    Hey lads !

just wondering if I'm at the end of the line with this ?...

A Good M8's 6900 HD super+ packed up after a power surge of some sort ? Any way between the Jigs and the Reels ! The New Power Supply has arrived, but it's clicking at 1 sec intervals.. ? Very Quietly.... I tried removing all connectors from the main board but Still the same clicking from PSU? click click

THIS PSU POWERS another Exact Unit Perfectly so PSU is GOOD/Working with or with out connection to Main Board.

Should I Put it in-between my ploughman's sandwich and order a new motherboard ? if so ? Any speculation as to how much ?

clicking is normally a short or discharging and normally a sign of a fault in the psu .

does it click when plugged into the mains but not fitted into the 6900 box ?

Power supply is faulty as should only click once when starting/turning off so send it back for a replacement I presume it is under warranty..

    Cheers lads !

Yeah ! I tested the power supply in another 6900hd and it powers that fine.....

so I tried removing each power line one by one from the psu to the mainboard to see if clicking would stop to try and isolate which line was holding it down but no joy.... it would be great if it were like a pc motherboard with a beep count to indicate failure,,,,, but its a satbox and not a pc..... And without schematics I'm fairly knackered.....

Any one know or recommend a supplier for motherboards or should I just contact Technomate...

Would be a shame to throw it away just because the main board is toasted ???

    Regards : Plessy

I've had this problem before and it turned out to be a faulty tuner! Try isolating the tuner or lift the 30 & 5 Volt lines and then power-up. Hope this helps.
