you could first try the channel master 1.2m that's what i used the lnb was mounted vertical not horizontal as previously stated make sure it's the right way up all you need is some longer screws to attach to the lnb holder frequency display should be 11.185 no matter if 14 or 18v symbol rate 25000 also i used only the lnb no feed it seems that there will be another spot beam same frequency over england so there could be some problems when that beam is active

Are you by any chance Irish?
I ask, because at the end of the day you wont gain much by getting Saorsat (Irish news and current affairs).
Other than that it's all UK and USA programming....Eastenders with a commercial break anyone?

    Fair enough.
I live in Ireland, but I haven't a clue what Shortland Street is.
Can't remember the last time I watched Irish tv!

Hi guys' just looking at the posts bout Ka band lnb's - and thought you should check out
********************* - saorsat wont be fully op til Oct 2012, by then you may not get the overlap in Wales. If your in a good signal area in Wales, why not try upgrade DTT aerial (SaorView) its on UHF signal nowwhich is stronger than old VHF. Best info you will find is on *********************

Hello all, consumer LNB's are seemingly soon to be available. For now most of us who want to get an early view are using modified hughnet LNB's from the US. See details of the DIY LNB at,

the rte channels are now up and running reported elsewhere but i have not tested the signal has been reported as being reduced in power so if correct even harder to receive ouside the intended footprint i will give it a go when i get time it was ok on a channel master 1.2m before the signal drop so will see what size dish is needed now i have a 1.8m i can try a bit fiddly to mount the hughes lnb but things will improve with a proper lnbf when they come available

The power does indeed seem to be down. Even on an 'optimized' 80cm system with propoer feed.

    Hey satwyn,

The Signal probably won't be strong enough now to be received in Wales. It seems to be down 7dB and you would need the proper LNB and a hell of a dish. Even with the biggest dish it probably won't be possible in much of wales anymore.

There is no guarantee the other spots won't start broadcasting at any moment increasing the noise on the frequency.

I attempted to PM you but I need 15posts for that :(
    Can u PM me?
