    Question Best Linux HD Receiver????

    Hi all.

I guess it will be the Dreambox, but in your opinions, what is the best HD Sat Receiver out there at the moment????

I have a ***** AB IP9000 am trying to resurrect, but just in case it's no good with CCcam via Ozcam, I need to consider my options.

Am on a great 6 month CS and just sold my ****ty Starpoo HD Combo!!

i've transfered from a DB 800 to a VU+ Duo despite it getting initially in my opinion unfair critisism, i think it's an excellent box, i'd suggest you check them out.

Have you considered Enigma 2 for the IPBox ?

It has come a long way since the first introduction.

Nothing wrong with the VU+Duo, I have open PLi on mine and it works great.

Got full 7 day epg, nice plugin for my mp3's.

BTW grizzlyt is right the cuberevo is now working really good. Another new E2 image was released this work and better still the official makers ( dgstation ) have totally re-wrote the osd and its suppose to be a bit like E1.

If you need a second tuner and don't mind the extra money then go for it, otherwise stay with what you've got

Yes, I would like to know that. Was wondering what it would do more than my TM 6800 in the present cir***stances

That's what I have. Some forum comments make setting up the VU difficult others not. I am still not sure if to get one as I use Macs and guess that causes problems because of the need for computer link ups.
Any Mac users here using Linux boxes ?

now a bit, then a bit, see if someone of your relations is running Linux or Linux box so you get an idea what it is. If you are a good reader and can follow instructions without skipping steps, then it is not as bad as it seems.

Now a bit, then a bit - for evermore probably. Thanks though for the help. All I really need to know is the aspects of Linux that relate to the VU+ Boxes so as to use them. Everything read so far shows the need for Windows. Might buy Win 7 and put on the Mac.
Probably easier to get a Spider.

What I would also like to know is what leads to the enthusiasm for the VU as, for example, comments posted above. Is it better than other similar boxes? If yes in what way?

    Hi

I do not take part which one is better DM/Vu+
But have to say that people are mostly overestimating difficulties to set up a linux receiver.

Personally I am a linux pro who knows only about it...it has six letters..
    Now Torvalds can laugh..

If I,old man, who´s brains are in level of monkey can set it up why not You.

Anyway You have to make normal procedures when setting up Your systems
(motor, patches, keys etc..) with all "normal" receivers.

Now you only have to do the same with linux boxes + internet connection.

And after that You do not have to be bothered what else it can do.And learn more.

It´s up to Your imagination what You can do after that. Not only one company/dealer supporting You.

I am also using "normal" receivers (Clarke-Techs) but only for blind scanning.
