I've tested 10 mkv movies with average bitrate( not as high as hfmls). There are two files that have no problem. There are five files that run just first 1-3 minutes then freeze or sometimes hang. The rest three are not playable. If you need this for ****center plugin do this:

To turn off the PIN-query:

a) open (/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/****Center/plugin.py)
b) find:
self.pin_entered = False

and change it to

self.pin_entered = True

c) save
d) restart enigma2

I've played 7 more movies, all are playable but some came with mosaic. I found some movies with a little bit sound delay(DTS). There is a file( Next 2007 1080p) having 8 srt subs inside MKV container, all of them can be selected and playable.

I tried testing the v1.0.28 on Premium Plus and the whole upgrade process went ok and box seems to be booting ok but Enigma2 itself is not starting but gives a following error:

You can install e2 on usb. However you will need to change kernel (only kernel, takes 30 seconds) with azup eveytime you want to switch,.

If people are interested i can post a howto.

@ Zfeet,

I have the Premium plus also that I only use for feeds at the moment with DVB-S tuners...I was thinking of loading E2 also just to play around with in anticipation of the plus driver being released, so could you advise if you were able to revert back to the opensat firmware OK or not, or were there any problems.

If there are any other (online) video plugins which do not work yet because of missing codec let me know.

I haven't reverted back to Opensat's firmware as I am still playing with E2. The process from Opensat to E2 went without any problems so I don't see any problems that would prevent from going back to Opensat.

I noticed one problem: the fan isn't on when using E2 so the device gets quite hot.

How far it DVB-T driver for E2?

Theres no fan on the Premium or Elite so this could be why it isn't working after you loaded this version of E2...will probably load it tomorrow after work have a play and try to revert back, hopefully if any of the E2 team read this before I do it they'll tell me if I shouldn't.

EDIT: it started working after like 1 or 2 minutes? :S why did it took so long? should have start early, after movie problems start to appear subtitles just stop appearing.

other's won't. why? :S

in mkv if i try to play internal or external .srt they appear in AUX menu, but after i chose i see nothing at all.


4)btw: i was testing with samples of 15..20 seconds high bitrates. now that i test full movies i noticed too after 1 or 2 minutes, sound losses and some problems.
my test was with a simple xvid,avi 700mb
Something is wrong sattommy. Audio disappears and image starts to play like at 150 FPS (slow motion or so!) But i think it is framedrops.

I'm beginning to get a bit confused.

My litle experience with MKV Player.

I play mainly USA tv show @720p (the usual release you find in internet like "DIMENSION").

I just finished watch NCIS and NCIS LA with subtitles (from usb HDD) and i have to tell the player worked like a charm. Not a single freeze in 1,5 hours of continuos play.
Subtitles worked well too, some lines are not displayed (rarely).

So for my use this release is very good!

Main problem now is to share my PC folder as i used to with opensh!t firmware.

Just my 2 cents!

There's no need at the moment because Zfeet is using a Premium plus with the AZ E2 designed for the Premium and Elite which as no fan, when a Premium plus version of E2 is released for testing and if the fan is not working then it becomes an issue.

I had the same issue when Azup was installed in the default location in Program Files. Copy AZUp.exe from "C:\Program Files\telesat\AZUp" to a different location and run as Administrator.

Framedrops on this 700mb avi you mean? I have watched some mkv series and it worked very well.

If i have time i will test some longer avis etc.....

Dont expect perfect playback right away please ;-)

You can add lines to mount in a startup script. Just mount it to /media/hdd And hdd will show in mediaplayer

Yes, i have usb HDD mounted in /media/hdd
I cannot mount my pc HD, i edited smb.conf but nothing happens.
I tried to manually mount the disk with cifs but all i got is "invalid argument"
I tried nfs mount but nothing happens (probably because i have win7 Home premium and nfs is not supported)

Any hints?
