I'm always happy to help where possible, and i'm happy the above file helped you.

Anyone cracked it for DE images on a DB yet? I have tried many variations but although all works on the 3 section I still get the choose bitrate screen on the others and it goes no further. Any help to solve this final bit of the jigsaw will be very gratefully received. Cheers - Brain
no but i will give the module a go thanks
this is getting on my **** now !!
phoenix your doing my head in !
please start to tell people in your posts that these updates WILL NOT WORK on any image other than VIX and maybe OpenPLI (because VIX is a rip off of OpenPli)
although its ok for you to tell people about the updates, and its great and very helpful when you post the needed dependency files, the fact still remains that all you are doing is creating confusion when people load them onto their boxes only to find that they dont work.
also the posting of these updates knowing full well that only VIX users can use them in my opinion is an attempt to just advertise VIX everywhere.
no one on the OE Alliance team are making any attempt to get these updates to run on other images, and dont give me your crap saying that they are just optimized to work with VIX as the mods that we made here to the previous version to work on all images, work just as well on VIX as your original plugin.
im really getting ****ed off with this !
the sat community is about helping others not causing massive confusion.all i now see on loads of different forums are posts that this plugin wont work and causes crashes and posts asking how to fix this.
its all just totally out of order.
either get your team to make the plugin compatible with other images when they write the code for the updates,or warn people that they will only work with VIX.
ive asked you a number of times now on various forums to place this warning, and i also know the reason your reluctant to post this warning, its quite simple, because if you do post it,you are afraid that the already hated VIX monopoly and the hatred of their behavior will be fueled further and you dont want this to happen.
nearly all now see you as laughable and the VIX teams terrier, sent to snap at the heels of anyone who dares to post a negative comment about them.
surely you dont want this ?
clean up your act buddy and address this growing problem.
Ian.
I am not going to get into a debate with you again, frankly if you want to believe the crap peddled by a certain forum then be my guest although people can see how mentally unhinged their members are now showing them selves to be.
as for the files i post, these files are for the OE-Alliance OnDemand plugin taken directly from our GIT, They will work with any and all OE-Alliance member teams images but how can we be expected to ensure compatibility with images we dont use ??. if i was to post saying these will only work with OE-Alliance images you would still have a problem with that as no doubt would the other card carrying members of your little we hate ViX club.
any way frankly i dont care, if echelon and the other staff here dont want me to post these updates then i wont.
I havent said anything about posting these files or not posting these files
this thread was about posting the ondemand plugin and to get it working on all images, and still is
from my point of view I tried it on a clone dm800 running openpli and it doesnt show in the plugin menu, so for me it DID NOT WORK
I havent complained about it or posted that info until now as I only tried it last night on that clone box
but I agree that with open source boxes you expect these files to be more "open" and to work on "more images" which was the point of this thread
and that is exactly why i post these files here so that people like ian above can get them working on none OE-A images ( pli is not a oe-a member team ), if this is causing friction here and you would rather i not post them then please let me know and i will cease doing so.
I only mentioned openpli in order to show the image I tried it on
I have no interest in whose "team" it is or isnt
these "teams2 mean nothing to me , I was only clarifying my point seeing as YOU brought MY name into it
I am not a member of any "team" and do not wish to be
my point was I tried it on that clone because it has an openpli image on it and OTHER members in this thread said it worked on their openpli images. well it didnt on mine, and thats all I mean
party politics in these "team" conversations does not interest me
and as you brought my name into it , I decided that you have shown me in a bad light insofar as it looks as if I am interfering, which I am not and havent done so either
at no point did I mention your files or team or anything at all
ian made his observations and he knows more about this than I could ever do, and he clearly has issues with yourself or a "team" as he is entitled to do
if you wish to post files here for ian or others to modify I have no objection and never have, just say so when posting them
i did not mean it in this way and if you thought i was having a go i apologize as that was not my intention, i only meant that if member of staff here requested it that i not post these files due to ensuing arguments then i would be happy to oblige, i only mentioned your name as frankly your the only member of staff who's name i could actually think of.
look, i dont want or need another massive forum debate about this plugin, image or team politics i simply said that i would keep this thread upto date with any OE-A updates and developments with direct relation to this particular plugin so to try and make it a little easier for the likes of ian to rework them for other images. if these posts are not wanted here i'll happily cease posting. i'm not the bad guy here i'm just trying to help where i can.
phoenix
i know your not the bad guy and i also know your posting the files to let others know about the latest updates.
this is cool as many have never even heard of github, let alone know how to use it or obtain files from it.and many members are really greatfull for your informative posts.
but
the issue is that these files without modification will not work on images other than VIX and some OpenPli images as long as all of the dependencies are also installed.this is a fact, and without telling people this and just posting these files, people quite naturally assume that these files will work for them as long as they follow the instructions and load them correctly.they believe this because pimps is a reputable forum that has only ever hosted working files.
this is where the problems begin, and numerous people have contacted me asking for help in the fact that they just cannot understand what they are doing wrong and why the files hosted here do not work for them.
they feel stupid and even say so in their messages to me.
but they are not being stupid, and its through no fault of their own that they cannot get them to work.
im having to repeatably tell people this, and that they shouldnt worry because its nothing they themselves are doing wrong.
it would be so simple to prevent all of this confusion,if you just simply stated in your posts that the latest updates will only work on the VIX image.
members then, will read this info and not waste their time and effort in trying to make something work, that never ever will.
the perfect solution of course would for the files to be written in a format that all images understood.
but i dont think that this is ever going to happen and im not going to say another word upon the reasons why, simply because i too, dont wish to enter into another political argument over the VIX image.but you do have to ask yourself the reasons why so many have formed these opinions in the first place.
if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and waddles like a duck,then............
anyway buddy, again,my request is for you to just simply state that the latest updates when you post them, are VIX only.
surely you are able to do this ?
Ian.
Have to put my 2 cents in here.. I've installed ondemand files posted here on an open pli 3.0 image and it works perfectly.
So to say that the said files only work on vix images is not correct.
I don't know much about the dependencies of Linux but I know there are certain dependencies for certain images to make plugins work, not all images are the same and as a result work needs to be done by people in their OWN time for the greater community .
I just want to keep this discussion balanced.
which files have you installed ?
the very latest updates posted recently by phoenix or the ones that WE modified in OUR own time last weekend ?
if its the latter then those are the files we modified and will work on ALL images, and this also includes VIX and OpenPli too.this was done purposely so all could enjoy this plugin and not just the select few who are willing to use VIX.
if its the former, then yes, because VIX is a rip off of OpenPli these files will work on certain OpenPli versions too, this is widely known and this has also been stated earlier in this thread by myself and others.
both of the above images use certain aspects of python that are now really rather dated and all other images,in order to keep the image size down to a minimum, have done away with using this old code.after all, whats the point of bloating an image with code thats no longer up to date?
Ian.
here is a version with latest additions like search functions and some players etc. Only for open pli3.0 images. I have tested it on tm twin and tm 2t and works well.
unpack, install the IPK files by copying to tmp directory, in telnet install with the command
drag the usr folder to root of receiverCode:opkg install /tmp/*.ipk
restart enigma
Could we not have one thread for all images and one for development?
3player will work on DB's but just occasionally a very recent file will not open. I just cant find anything else to get it going on BBC and itv player without getting locked on the bitrate screen - is there another file i am needing? Have added bfs, dns, lxml and html entity and parser ones. Any conflict here? - should I add the python-io one? All the ones Ian and team sent down have been tried and are in use - image is newenigma 2. Cheers - Brain
Not quite true. OnDemand does not work on SH4 based boxes because of incompatibilty of LXML.
I've hit a brick wall trying to fix it. The only SH4 version of LXML I've found uses UCS2 unicode. Python 2.7 uses UCS4.
I'm not proficient enough to build LXML from source using UCS4 unicode :(
Can anyone help?
i said all images not all boxes.
neither i nor any of the guys who did this mod with me have SH4 boxes so we could only test on mipsel and mips32el
sorry theres nothing we can do to help you here.
Ian.
