If i got facts right,
this is going to be an opensat release...
It seems a bit odd for a today release
coz i dont think they work on sundays...

So maybe we ll get sth tomorrow...
I hope tx0 has wrong info,
and this whole thing don t end up with an ordinary opensat release

decides to make the official firmware.
there will be no competition nor a release date or no communication
with consumers.
I was very pleased when the team was one, now not

It's more than 17000 hits for this topic last 2 days so it
would be nice to hear a word from the developers...
If something changed details and new release dates

I don't believe in rumors so if the date changed there should be details: Like it was before... "We stuck here and there because of MRUA xrpc codes not match" and so on. At least it sounds more real

I am NOT one of the developers who is working? on this E2 module or whatever, so I cant tell you anything, but I and another guy is working on DFB for Azbox and it's just left to fix HDMI initialization and few more tweaks.

PS. @all Pls. stop PM about this E2 module and dates, I dont know anything. Thx

Do you know anything in regards to the development of dvbapi?

A few days ago you said you compiled enigma2, where you able to get the OSD on screen?

Yes, I compiled E2 over UCLIBC and I get first screen (spinner loading) then it crash. UCLIBC and current kernel version dont have all low level functions for E2 , so I am waiting for rs232 interface so I can change linux kernel to new version and to change to LIBC. It should work, but before I can try I cant tell for shure. If I cant bring new linux kernel and libc on this chip then it's left coding new FW from beginning.

I feel a new kernel could improve much even add DVB-API to some extent.
What kernel version will you try to run? Have you seen the kernel versions on the Sigma's ftp?

Yes I think they still have to be patched. Shouldn't the kernel also be signed?

For directfb, do you have the curacou package, which seems to be necessary to compile. Could you compile amp_test for me?

I have amp_test binary but we are still working on directfb package, so when we are 100% shure everything is working , I will upload here files.

From those who were bringing the news...

If opensat were providing the ripper with the needed tools,
we d have a much better azbox fw months ago,
even an e2 alternative till now...

We wouldnt be waiting so impatiently for this release today...

But they can t see the fact that their developers suck BIG TIME,
they are also don t give the chance to this "with balls" developer to do the job...
And he have to do it with the hard way..

I think the ripper deserves half the profit of azbox sales...

I really don't know in wich team they are but EDG team is working on it too and also SIF Team too (but they don't admit it on public)

I have been looking into the different options over the last few days. Also try to analyse how the azbox is setup now. I think e2 can replace opensat firmware fully. In my view (please correct me if i am wrong) the following steps need to be taken.

-dvbapi has to be compiled and work with dvb device + use sigma demuxer and sigma mpeg output
-Enigma2 has to be compiled to output osd over sigma osd output -> might be just framebuffer
-Smartcard slot driver needs to be rewritten
-IR-remote driver has to be rewritten (lircd??)
-Directfb has to be compiled for plugins
-Amp_test will replace media player and will be launched from enigma2 file browser. Amp_test will have its on osd, which has to be further developped.

This way opensat's problem loaded software can be fully replaced. All other plugins, like browser, youtube, rss, etc will have to be re-developped with directfb support.

As far as current sources on this forum. dvbapi has been compiled and is hopefully not using Sdecoderserver to output the mpeg. Enigma2 might be compiled or not?

Currently opensat firmware works like this:
JIPCServer --> Inter process communication server. Get IR commands from driver, and is used to communicate between the other modules
Sdecoderserver --> Initializes the output, and other modules send their output to Sdecoderserver which publishes it on screen. Sdecoderserver also controls the demux devices.
All other modules -> independed modules which router their screen output through Sdecoderserver.

I also would like o see e2 fully replace opensat firmware, have good working hd satelite receiver and after we can work on on other stuff like mkvs and streaming. IMHO
