I am on 4384, Imported short satellite list without unneeded satellites, with updated TP's, and channel list created just with Maz 2.3. I haven't done even slightest channel list customization within AzBox with remote. And few days I don't have any problem, and reboot messages. Looks like AzBox interface for channel list editing makes corrupted channel list which make problems.
That was more like $2! But have to say I agree with you 100%. Closedshat just don't listen - Fatty drops by once in a blue moon and other than that, new firmware with new bugs.
I've giving up and mothballed my box until something happens, like release of software code or Enigma 2, neither of which are likely.
now I know why azbox software developers have their faces hidden in that mag. :D
Still grayish haze on HD channels !!! SD channels fine !
yeh same here on hd with latest fw
My bad... you are right 4348... they should accompany FW with friendly names to help us distinguish easier. Instead city names I would rather use names of great catastrophes and fiascoes to better describe contents :)
I have DVB-S and DVB-C tuners, and I have heard that some users have good experience with 4348 FW. Personally I have skipped that version after seeing changelog :) but later I was devastated with 4487 and "recording complete" & "please reboot" combo messages. So I decided to give it try. I believe that version of FW is not the most important thing, more important is work flow. Other stable FW with good experiences is 4142 which records subtitles and it is recommended by author of trimmed satellite list.
Here is what I did:
1) Formatted app area,
2) Installed 4348,
3) Replaced current satellite list with trimmed list 53E – 30W with updated TP's
4) Scanned DVB-C and DVB-S channels
5) Edited channel list with Maz 2.3 channel editor
6) Saved changes to disk and then Imported edited channel list with ACC 1.1
Trimmed satellite list should help speeding up AzBox optimizing number of satellites you can physically catch. I have used already prepared and updated list from dvlajkovic from AzBox4Yu (http://www.azbox4yu.com/showthread.php?t=773)
ACC 1.1 Import of channel and satellite list should prevent unwanted behavior. Here excerpt from ACC 1.1 changelog:
Not even single change to channel list has been done with AzBox via remote. I was doing backups for every step, and for 5 last days haven't seen "Please reboot" message, which was occurring frequently earlier.Quote:
* Loading and saving channel lists into AzBox - in section: Tools-2, Channel List Everybody who has problem loading lists in AzBox and strange stufs like crazy mix after loading lists (besides that you have already erased unnecessary satelites. this way you will get clear and clean list with that that you really want to have on your STB.
I am using mbox 4.023 on gbox servers, and it works without problems. No other changes or modifications has been done except NFS mount to NAS storage.
Of course all existing other bugs and limitations are there, this just prevents "Please reboot" message in my case.
SD channel image quality is low with 4348 and there is a bug with .sub subtitles. Player cannot dedect .sub files and even subtitle search utility cannot see .sub files :( I'm on 4348 and I watched a film after converting sub to srt yesterday.
4466 was stable.
4487 has "please reboot" errors.
But we should be fair :
quete from fw.azupd.com :
"These snapshots are generated automatically and are untested. Means the compiler found the source good enough to compile.
Dont forget that these snapshots are provided as a courtesy only and might NOT WORK. "
And being fair again - quote from site admin on the official site in response to a complaint about a bug in older FW:
"Hello,
Do you know that we are now in 0.9.4487.
_http://fw.azupd.com/
Please upgrade your firmware."
They can't have their cake and eat it!
Denton
AZBox Elite, now mothballed
the latest fw still has issue with vbox-II while "blindscan". I've rolled back to a stable one
worth upgrading from 0.9.4466?
IMHO - the short answer is NO
Has anyone had problems with recording using this FW? I did not succeed!
I have to admit that I did not do a clean istallation. Maybe this was the reason. Maybe not!?
I had problems with scheduled recording, with [rec] button evertyhing worked fine. But first problem exist almost in all FW versions.
