I have tested the plugin VlcPlayer (with small changes) to stream from the new vlc version 2.0.5. This version seems to be excellent for our purposes.

Please unpack and ftp to root (/).

For OpenPLi 3 based images use the oe2.0 version and for OpenPLi 2 based images use the oe1.6 version.

Configure vlc on pc :-

Tools -> Preferences -> All -> Interfaces -> Main Interfaces -> Select Web

In Program Files -> VideoLAN -> VLC -> lua -> http - find file HOSTS. Insert the receiver ip (without #)

Configure plugin VlcPlayer :-

Insert Server Address, Movie Directory (example c:// NOT c://dream). Select Yes to Decode video.

What box and what image ?
Working fine playing files from my pc to Vu+ Ultimo with BH 1.79

800 nemesis

OE1.6 ?
At what point do you get the GSOD ?

when vlc on my pc fails to open the file

excuse my ignorance but why is this needed with enigma2 ?

all files stream to my box without this. but i do know that early 800 versions cannot play avi's but apart from this what does this give ?

Just playing ian, some streams wont play audio on e2 but will with vlc so trying to get vlc to stream from pc direct to e2 box.

ok thats true.

some mpeg 4 aac audio streams wont play,but yet others do.very strange.

Yes Ian, I've still got dm800 v1 (so no avi file playback for me)
no problem playing files from my hdd with vlc on pc
as soon as vlc from dm800 asks pc to stream get vlc error box come up on the pc
bloody annoying as i this always worked when i used it in the past

Are you using the latest version of vlc on your pc ?

ah no it's 2.0.4 twoflower, not 2.0.5
but letting it do an update check says i've got the latest version ?
just grabbing 205

updated my vlc to 2.05 and tried following post 1

ftp oe2.0 to my duo as its on version 3 vix oct 2012 (done)
edited the hosts file in lua/http to add my duo ip address (done)

dont understand what to do with the last part , plugin in vlc

In the plugin menu set the directory to c://

as long as c is the name of the drive where you have movies, I have mine on c and d so set up two servers.

You then navigate to the desired folder.

in this part I couldnt find that in vlc 2.05 64bit , and so the plugin fails to find any playlist if I add a film to vlc on the pc and fails

I cant tell from the info on my new duo which python its using in vix 3, or which of these 2 plugins to use either (oe16 or oe2)

so how do we find out all this extra under the bonnet info when deciding which files to use like the above and oscam etc

checked system info and cant find anything there ?
