Are all images ok for a 500 ?

Just got my new 500S and have two questions :toetap05:

1) Are all images ok for my new 500s (Its new so it will be a clone )

G, image has caused problems in the past.

2) Should I wait and get a USB stick in the back or just flash ???

DO NOT USE GEMINI IMAGE

All other images will be just fine, DM500 does not multiboot so you can not put a USB in it :respect-051:

Use the DreamUp program to flashing the image

Well completed the flash using FEP thro LAN. All ok, just loaded Ccan 2.0.11 and scanned a few sats , all ok, thats more then can be said about the remote control that came with the box !. Anyway using the 7020 remote for the mo.

Next step ! com from one box to another !

I thought newer gemini images for the dm500 clones were ok? Only version 4, or whichever it was, will crash your box. Can someone confirm or not?!

It is the latest Gemini images that trash your box.

Best advice is avoid all Gemini images for any DM500 - original or clone.

Try to avoid GEMINI 4.60 because it contains TIME **** as they say and it will crash your receivers , but GEMINI 4.40 is safe . GOOD LUCK

m8 tried them all... best DM500s is 'Gemini 4.70 DM500 Maxvar CCcam 2.1.4 via 2.6 vali II franch By Borsalino 06.02.2010' once ye get the Sats/Ccam set-up it flys...enjoy

Warning - You can only buy clone DM500s nowadays and Gemini images are not safe on any clone.

Even if you get a DM500 secondhand which the seller claims to be original - why take the risk. There are many other good images to use.

gemini images above 4.2 have time ****s so stay away from above gemini 4.2 images .i use 4.2 gemini on my clone 500s works fine.

I'm thinking about getting a clone box.

Like I said I have original 800HD in my living room but want another box in my room.

I will only use it for the NFL season starting soon. So will only use it for EPSN on 19E and NFL feed on 15W.

So dont really want to spend another £400 on a dreambox just for a few hours on Sunday night.

Check out the "newbie dreambox questions" section. If you are willing to do some reading, then you will be happy with your box.

all gemini images above 4.2 are unsafe for your clone dm 500 unless they are non **** versions,,,,,,dark star 2 is the image i would choose ,although seems to get corupted if box is powered off a few times,,,best to leave on standby if not using for periods of time,,,also great for motorised dish
not a bad little server either.
