I wanted to have a look at 20 west but that was not the main reason for buying it.
I love watching horse racing and I wanted another box that can handle Powervu as a back up for the TM5402 m3.
I don't use the TM5402 m3 hardly at all now as the other box does all I need.
As I say, its personal taste.
where is best place for GT Media V8 Nova RCA DVB-S2 Satellite Receiver and where to get software. want it for afn.

Its a Chinese box so it will come from China.
Its just under £30.
received the golden v8 chinese box today,,,,got it updated to the latest software,,,,,,discovery networks,,,sis,,,,, on 4.8 all clearing,,,,,afn network 9 east also clearing and auto updating keys,,, ill try a few more sats tomorrow.

It will not clear the Powervu channels on 20 west though.

Well was really wondering how many non-p/v channels he can get, to maybe fully justify buying the golden v8 box?
No more than the 5402 non powervu. And only in UK afn is the difference and auto update of course.
The TM F3 super does same except 9e.
The V8 is a cheap stb and if you want afn for usa sports and au for keys its a bargain.
If it was an expensive stb wouldnt be worth it.

Yes but is the V8 able to open other channels (i.e. non powervu) as with a more expensive box - I assume not from what you've said?
Just seems a bit odd that a box would be brought out only for one encryption method!

The v8 opens exactly what the rest do plus afn 9e and pv auto update?
So it does cs it does biss etc everything the rest do.
Not sure what you don't understand from my previous post when I said the v8 does same as 5402 except it auto updates pv and opens 9e afn.
So it does what all the rest can do plus pv afn au.
Plus these stb's have been about a long time they also open the basic tandberg not the latest epl tandberg though but the 1.9e arena channels etc.
Its less than 30 quid so surely not much justification is needed.
Its all personal taste though, what someone likes, someone else may not like.
I like the box a lot, it satisfies my tastes completely but for other people it may not.
For £30 it's a no brainer if you want au on pv channels.
And it does all the rest like biss iptv etc.
I Really doubt its really worth bothering about coming from China Delivery E.T.A = 2 months at the very least :ack2:

The hash-mode algorithms are extremely complicated. It requires a disassembly of the original box firmware, which is highly obfuscated, to determine them. Only an expert in reverse engineering is competent to do this. It is far beyond the capabilities of the vast majority of hobbyists.
barney on the bay there is at least one seller in portsmouth in uk at just over £30 and delivery is 2 days
I got mine in about 3 working days and its less than 30 quid.
If you like horse racing and AFN, it IS worth it and its auto update as well.
