i have a flat screen tv ,,Foehn & Hirsch 42"
THE blue light is staying on ,,i can not get a picture
i can not get the red stanby light to come on either
i have tried new batteries in the remote
i have tried to press the manual buttons on the side of the tv ,tried to turn it off by pressing power button manually on side of tv and nothing happens
i have tried unplugging the tv three times each time for fifteen mins ,then when i try turning it back on i get same response ' NOTHING but the ble light remains on
i have tried looking on goooooogle for help ' NOTHING
i have tried looking on YOOOOOO tooooob as well but again ' nothing
does anybody on here know or could suggest wat i could do as i can not afford to go and buy another tv
the tv is four years old and is not covered by insurance and that is the very reason i am trying to ask for help

ideally you should read the label and write the model number down and amend post #1 with it

I would also post the same question with full info on avforums as they specialise in such matters like repairs and advice etc

I meant the website avforums, which is a separate website but as you know from the rules here we dont put up links to other websites, so google is your friend

I dont have a problem with you asking on our forums , I also dont have a problem with you using the HDTV forum for your question and thread although it was in the wrong forum so I have now moved it to the HD TV forum here , but I do have a problem with you having a pop at me even though I only asked you to give full details of the tv model number in case somebody could help you (like a tv engineer), or if they knew a site where you could get more info which is what I posted in my reply in order to point you in the right direction

you need to learn not to bite the hand that feeds you, otherwise nobody will help you and all you will do is get peoples backs up , my reply was polite and was given in good faith, it wont happen again, so if you cannot keep a civil tongue in your head, the thread and topic will be closed

post #3 was fine in my opinion and was what I asked you to do

I moved this thread to the HD TV forum as that is what it was about (moved from HD CHAT)

I hinted that you should post the make and model and fault over on AVFORUMS website because they have engineers and well informed people on that site who may be able to help you

however, your post #4 had a go at me

can not find av forum on here ive searched for ages
,,unless u meant a different web site that you FAILED to mention
which was uncalled for , seeing as I did my best to answer you, ask for further info from you and point you at the best forum on the web which may be able to give you answers

I wont break the rules here and will jump on people that dont follow the rules, but in this case I didnt until you had a go at me in post #4

I do accept your apology and hope that in future you can keep it civil

I for one cannot help you any further, you really need a tv engineer or some clever tech geek

but your thread now has the correct info listed and is in the correct section (the HD TV forum, not the HD CHAT forum), plus I have pointed you at AVFORUMS which is the best place to try to get answers, I hope that is enough unless we have anyone else that can help you in which case I hope they reply, but if nobody does reply its because nobody can help

you were correct in asking for help, but you failed to list the model number, hence my first reply

    the tv details are below

Foehn & Hirsch is the make of the HD TV
42 " flat screen tv is the size of the TV screen
    MODEL FH-42LMY-

Your TV is probably a UMC re-badged or branded as Foehn & Hirsch ! Look in your local paper for a TV repair shop/Man or visit/call someone in the trade local to you and ask for there advice ! I would suggest its gonna cost £65 _ £85 to put it right by a trained technician with the right gear.
Some cant be bothered to repair unbranded sets as there isn't always "PARTS" available as there simply wasn't millions of them made, Unlike Panasonic Samsung LG sony ! Must say that recently i've seen a few "cheap" Panasonic sets that are actually just re-branded crap for the budget market mostly made in Turkey.

just had a quick search for you,it seems your tv is an e-buyer own brand and your problem is not unique.only info i can get for you is once blue light is on press and hold a number button on remote
not saying it will work or for how long you have to hold a number button for.

    thank you for trying
I have had a better idea than all the suggestions on here and I am going to call the supplier and the manufacturer and I will add any comments they suggest,,as for calling engineer and the price you suggested I think it would make more sense to buy a new set as they retail at around £150 upwards for 40" inch flat screens
    cheers for replying thou rikjaard-real

Exactly the reason most stuff gets thrown away these days ! Also you expect something that is new will have better features !

That would explain why I had never heard of the tv in question here - my aunt had bought a cheap 'Black Friday' Polaroid from As da last year and found it was impossible to program her Sly remote to operate it (no code available!) - and I believe it was actually a re-branded Samsung from the States!
Either way, good luck with getting your tv sorted Paul!
