just format usb to Fat32 on pc and pop it in the box.It will already be mounted..I never changed the password so that will still be the same buddy..You can mount or manage by device manager in TSPanel or in menu/setup/system or software manager to choose your backup location etc...Hope this helps matey and thanks for trying the image..You wont regret it...

I've never fully understood the significance of the various second stage boot-loaders wrt to images on clones.

Do I need to do anything special before flashing this image ? For example, which second stage loader is best or needed ? Does it need to be a patched loader ?

In the past with a genuine DM600pvr, I have done a Telnet to destroy the image then used the web interface to select and flash a new image. Does that work on 800 clones ?

I am no authority on this but have one of each so will have a go

the second stage bootloader was introduced to try to ensure the box was genuine, so obviously if its a clone its expected to fail if using a genuine image

if I try a genuine image with ssl on my clone it fails with a red flashing led and wont get past the first stage of booting, and reboots or locks up

so you tend to find images for clones have a patched ssl and usually you are told which sim its for and which loader it contains (as in this case)

the clone makers have various sims and so you get various sim + ssl combinations so its important to choose the correct one

this image has the patched ssl 84 included for sim 2 cards so works on those clones including mine

an original box can have driver updates , ssl updates and also image updates so wont fail due to being genuine (no patching required)
an ssl is like an image and loaded the same way on a box, through the webif as usual; but usually you would only do this on a genuine box like my main one (not on a clone)

so if you have a clone you should know what sim and ssl it uses, and choose your image accordingly, which I did with my clone and used doodz backup image as the ssl is included (the clue is in the image name , -sim2-ssl84b-)

hope that helps, and if any errors then maybe somebody else will clarify further

    Many thanks for that Echelon.

So if I just flash with doodz image it will automatically add the correct ssl - assuming my clone is a Sim2 (which I'm sure is the case).

    I'll have a go tomorrow.

no, if you use doodz image it will use the included ssl84 patched version, nothing else

so no it wont automatically add the correct ssl , it will add the patched ssl84b as its included in the image

if you used an image with ssl82 it would install that one, and if they brought out a patched ssl86 and included it then you would get that one

on a genuine box you can flash any ssl no matter what the image, although there will be a recommended minimum version posted with the image details

I think that is what I meant, as I'm sure my clone is a sim2. I may have worded it badly.

I was really asking for confirmation that the patched ssl was embedded in doodz image (as opposed to me finding a stand alone one and loading it separately).

    yes it is

I think you will find it difficult if not impossible to find a clone image that doesnt contain the patched ssl bootloader, or to find a patched BL on its own

It can be a Ferrari clone using a special card - they need Ferrari image but if it say Sim2 then it is OK

    One last (I hope) question.

The original advert on that well known auc tion site said it is a SIM 2.10. Does it matter what flavour of version 2 it is ?

Well I bit the bullet and doods image is up and running.
Now getting used to the different menus (my previous image was Blackhole - Dream Elite).

Hadn't backed up my old config files - channels, LNB allocation, etc so re-scanning all my fixed Sats.

    Now to add Softcam stuff.

Many thanks to all for your help and patience.

Just one complaint - not from me but the gf - about the tasty bird on the second skin.

she's not naked though..lmao..only flaming boosoms...If you want to change 2nd boot screen anyone get your self Dream_Logo_Generator and find what bootlogo you want and then send it to the box..voila you can have your own boot screen..Also while im on it..If your bootloader is lower than ssl84b then flash just the bootloader first to update it and then flash the image..if you have ssl84b already then jjsy flash the image..

Possibly this is not an image issue but has anyone managed to open Bulsat (39E) with the pre-installed MgcamD in this image just using a key file.

MgcamD is working as it clears the ORF (crypto) channels but whatever I do it won' clear the I2 channels.

I think have inspected all the support files associated with it but it is possible that some files are located in weird locations and my edits to the key file are not the one being used.

Keys have been verified on my faithful SS1 with vPlug so that is not an issue.

you may want to try a different mg_cfg .I have often found this to be the cause for not clearing stuff..

Yes will work on genuine also..If your bootloader is older than ssl84b then first flash the new bootloader then the image and all is good to go.
