    Sony 40L4000 MPEG4?

    Hi,

I have a friend who lives on the Irish border and he's just bought a Sony 40L4000 TV. Apparently to receive RTE HD you require MPEG4 and he says that he needs a Viaccess cam. His TV doesn't have a CAM slot, but a PCMCIA card slot!

Anyone know how to get this TV to receive MPEG4 transmissions?

    TIA,

    bobed

I'm pretty sure that he'll need a seperate HD Sat Receiver.

My Sony has a CAM slot - which is effectively a PCMCIA and is designed to take a Setanta CAM and card but this will only decode SD transmissions. I'd be very surprised if a CAM can be built to handle HD decryption without specialist hardware being built into the TV itself.

Sorry i can't be of more help.
