    DB 800 or IPbox 9000??

Ok my new tv is screaming for a HD sat receiver.

I am torn between the two, I currently have a 7025 so I am used to the

    twin tuners.

I like the 800 because its a dreambox! And once you have owned one you

will know what im talking about! BUT going back to a single tuner!

so the ipbox 9000 is looking fav at the mo.

The QboxHD is also looking good, but it all depends on the support.

So I would like your views please, to try and help me decide.

I had a bad experience with a ABIP250s and vowed NEVER to have another one in my house again.... I am now the proud owner of a dm800... sure it has it problems but that makes it fit right in at my house

just MY opinion folks and not worth a penny!!

IPBOX has a good hardware but the support is not good enough. Dream 800 is OK with a great support but hardware limitations (no thin tuner, no CI,...) but for me the QBOX HD will be the best choice. You need to wait on first customers test for QBOX HD and to see what will be the QBOX HD support.

Not much help as I have only tested the DM800 but with the latest images out at present it seems perform well and have very few of the early problems reported with it.:respect-051:

I have a 9000HD+ a 800HD and a sd Q box, If I were in your position I would wait for the HD Q box..........9000= not enough support, 800HD you have posted its limitations and quite right, Q Box easiest to use by far. If I were to buy just one I would be leaning toward the HD Q box however the 9000HD picture quality is the best I have ever seen..............Regards N._

    Dreambox: bad hardware
    IPBox: bad software

Wait for the first impressions of QBox HD and AZBox HD linux receivers.

    Cheers.

I think the dm800 is just starting to get good. As it has been around for a short while now the software support has become substantially better (still has some way to go) but it is a lot better than what it was.

I would take a step back from the idea of buying new products and see how others rate them first. The qboxhd is very attractive on paper though.

I have deliberately avoided all the recent Dreamboxes due to the poor hardware reliability.

My money is on the Azbox HD or Qbox HD.

Already have three HD receivers, Fortec Passion, Fortec Innovation, Pace HD.

well i to have both Dreambox 800 HD and AB IPbox 900/910/9000 all 3

Dreambox is very good in software part , has all a new begginer needs to start off, all serverd to you in a gold plate without any effort.

I my self do not find dreambox as good as many ppl here says.
my experience is bad with it, many reboots , gets hot , tuner faild many times during the day, freezings and needt to reboot or take the box out of electrisity , and other things.

AB IPbox range on the other hand is more gentle , but here we have the paradocs of the software, there is not many images that are made for this box yet, there is no very much pluggins for this receiver,
there are 4-5 images , there are few plugins but the most basic things are there and for a new bigginer the IPbox is more friendly.

The box has a mileston beter picture then the Dreambox
it almost never freezes , is stable , never gets hot even with a 500 GB hardisk.

Are you goin to use the box as you,r TV sourse then they both fit the bill
but will you like some thing more , then wait a little more and see what the rest of the new Linux HD boxes will bring to us.

    Merry Christmas

to be honest with you, none are good enough at the moment all with problems and issues
*DM 800 for bad and poor hardware
    *IPBOX for slow software DEV
*Qbox HD (looks poor chinees hardware)
*AZbox HD (looks poor hardware too with DIY glue al over the place and so on)..
i had to send the DM800 twice to germany for serious hardware issues (LAn crash ,tuner...etc),still didnt receive it back :(,and that situation obliged me to use back the Kathrein UFS910 ,so far with the flash enigma 2 version looking very good ,but apart from all that i will site back and wait for better stuff,,may be i sell everything off and get DM8000 as i´m getting very good reports about the performance specialy with the new REV board witch apperently is not made in china but europe..the big problem is the Price of the unit, its just mad!!!
to have an idea just watch this video ---> _http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-nBmNHHxNiA ..

    very best regards ,,
**i take this opportunity to wish all satpimps members a great christmas and very happy new year ..

Thanks for the input guys, some great points covered. Think I will wait before buying.

I have HD freesat, but only a hand full of channels with that.

    Merry christmas to every one:respect-051:

I have the Cube REvo which is the same as 9000ip and the only thing that I hate about it is the card readers won't read a sly card.. there are ways around this.
The images are more or less all the same but all seem stable...
I am still waiting for a solid enigma 2 image to come out and I think the box will improve rapidly when we get that.
Picture quality is really good on both SD and HD channels.

If the 9000 has better hardware then why do the whole community in the sat world not offer more support? That way we have the preferred product?

Pipino is talking about glue on the AZBOX HD motherboard but it was on pre-release version (béta-version)!

Wait for this box to come out and we will see what really the hardware and software quality of this box are.

I am also in the mood of purchasing a HD STB and having read many things about all the current HD STB am I really waiting for the AZBOX HD Premium to come out.

About IPBOX 9000, many peoples report that dual decoding doesn't works on this box, so having 2 tuners is useless since most of the channels are crypted. So it seems that you cannot really benefit from the dual tuner.

For the time being I think that the Kathrein UFS-910 (or 922) is still may be a right choice... waiting for AZBOX HD Premium ;-)

not true mate, I have a cuberevo and have sat and cable tuners, that workd fine for me, just a case of swapping softcams when required.

    Hello,

People reporting trouble with dual decryption are using a local offical card (not a softcam) and have 2 DVB-S2 tuner.
When recording with one tuner, zapping on the second tuner break the record on the first tuner.
