which hdmi lead?

i have bought a blu ray player and want to know which hdmi lead is best to use or does ot not make much difference ? will one about £10 gold plated do or should i be looking to spend something like £40 ? will it make alot of difference to the picture ? thanks

Far many years I have used QED leads, I got the PS3 lead by QED and trust me you can see the difference.
Just make sure one you get the lead you use a decent set up disc to set up you TV.

dont know what you mean by set up disc ? do you not just buy a lead and plug it in ? its a bush BD01 player from argos . thanks

You need to set up you TV correctly, contrast, brightness etc.
From memory Finding Nemo has a THX optimiser disc that will help you

AVForums has some really good TV setup info for many current models, saved me a lot of time setting up my new Samsung TV for the various different inputs. Well worth a look

there is no real differance between a £10 cable and a £500 cable apart from the price.....

since its a digital signal its not going to have that much loss

If the cable is really cheap as in crap it wont be able to handle the data rates

You really only need to spend more if you have a very big (over 50") screen, and definately avoid over-priced crap like Monster Cables. My local Comet are charging over £100 for this rubbish...

My 99p cable from fleabay does exactly the same thing that the £69.99 one that came free with my tele does. Done pay more

In defence of the more expensive HDMI cables I would add that they are generally shielded much better and do not get affected by nearby power cables etc.

I had problems with a cheaper HDMI cable with distorted pictures, sparklies etc but replaced the cable with a more expensive 'shielded' one and no more problem!
