hsbc warning!! be careful

having phoned the internet section of the bank today ,, there isa email doing the rounds saying click "here here to upgrade your online banking " DONT!!!!! it is a possible trojan!!!
thought i would do my bit to assist in saying this

Mate, thanks for the warning.
Banks never send emails out, so its always a good idea to ignore anything like that and speak diect to the bank.

I have had the same from Barclays, Alliance and Leicester, Abbey National.

Allways adressed to undisclosed recipients which banks will never do.

I get a genuine email ever month to check my online statement, so banks do send emails. We all need to be very aware

Thanks mate for the info I thought that they never sent emails as to avoid fraud, thats was the information that I got from Barclays anyway.
In which case its worth making sure that there is something that is unique to you like a your name or member number to justify that the mail is from a bank.
Personally I would never respond to a bank email just because I know how clever the fraudsters are getting and with all the lost cds and do***ents they could still find a way to nab your money.
My no 1 rule is speak to the bank via the phone or in person.

Have had similar from Natwest, Abbey national, Halifax and Lloyds......Have never banked with any of them. I do not respond and immediately delete them.

Yea banks do send emails, but only to tell you to check your account homepage as you may have a message/statement waiting for you.

They never disclose any information on the mail.

Never follow any direct links on the emails, always go to your online account via the address bar yourself.

Please Please be carefull, my sister had all her money out of her bank stolen today. She is now broke and has no money at all. Whoever stole used it to pay bills with, over £500 worth. There are some real s*** out there.

If she reported it immediately and she hadn't given her PIN out knowingly, the Bank should refund the loss.

They can do this because they can stop all the payments but often can't be arsed.

@Detlef - Yeah she said the bank stopped some payments going out because they tried to spend £1200 on the card. She said the money was used to pay some hire plants.

the one i am so careful of is paypal!! about 5 months back AND i dont know how ,, someone in canada tried to use my card on 5 occasions!!!
it only came to light as i tried to draw out £10 and i could not!!

I even get e-mails from "banks" addressed to Dear Customer, but end saying "if you are not a customer, please ignore this message" . Its easy for some people to fall for a message appearing to be from a bank, but when it admits it doesnt know if you are a customer or not..... Need I sa more.
