In the aftermath of the storm, Alice makes a difficult decision and leaves a badly injured and unconscious Danny alone in the bush to try to get help. She succeeds in making it back to Mara, where she informs the others of Danny’s plight, and a search mission is put together as day breaks. Meanwhile in the bush, Danny is alone, desperate for water, and vulnerable.

DS Ronnie Brooks and DS Matt Devlin are forced to reopen a contentious murder case, and their investigations threaten to unravel James Steel’s prosecution of Luke Slade eight years before. Slade, who has been studying law during his time in prison, is given leave to appeal. When he opts to represent himself in court, the case becomes less of a legal appeal and more of a personal vendetta between Slade and Steel. As Slade begins to get the upper hand in court, it seems as if James’s career may be on the line.
