UK biggest buyers of Blu-ray & HD DVD

According to DEG (The Digital Entertainment Group), UK consumers have been the most enthusiastic adopters of the new HD formats with 34% of total High Definition DVD sales.

DEG is a non-profit organisation which has been promoting retail training, consumer education and public relations activities with the aim of increasing awareness and adoption of new High Definition formats.

In 2007 a total of 2.5 million High Definition DVDs were sold across Europe, and this figure is expected to rise significantly in 2008. It is interesting to note that during the transition from the VHS format to DVD in 1998, just 1.48 million DVDs were sold.
