    Question USB port for what?

I'm looking for a new receiver and I've been looking at the spec of the Vantage X221S-CIUSB.

One of my long unanswered questions has been - why put RS232 sockets on satellite receivers when most computer equipment now use USB ports instead?

Could someone please confirm that the X221S-CIUSB can be programmed via its USB port by for example a memory stick? Thanks.

    Hi Pimpernel

I just bouth this receiver last week and i am very happy with it you can patch it via usb port with usb stick or via com port rs232 and it´s better to have two options then one ! because i have had bad experience with my ex technomate 1500 super where the rs232 is dead after two years of patching

    sorry for my bad english

Thank you mika - your English is fine. I thought the same as you and although I have a laptop it would be far easier, I think, using a flash memory stick. Now I have to learn the how to upgrade the software.
