    Looking for a new receiver

    Hi

After years with my Echostar DVR 7000 (great receiver), i think it's time to upgrade. my wish list contains:

    1. HD ready
    2. Programmable (fed up buying Cams)
    3. Twin tuner
    4. can connect to the internet via my router
    5. i have a 36v dish

any advice on which way to go would be greatly appreciated

    cheers
    Tom

I would say very few ( if any ) receivers on the market at the moment will fit those requirements , especially the 36 volt motor requirement ( most receivers are diseqc )

also very few ( if any ) are twin tuner

and in general its the linux boxes that connect via a router

my advice is that you should check the hd forums here and elsewhere , but I dont think a hd ready , twin tuner receiver that is programmable exists as yet , never mind the 36 volt option

there are single tuner , hd ready boxes , and some may connect using the router although I havent heard of one , and none will be 36 volts either , so you would need a vbox to drive the motor

leave it 12 months and you may see boxes out that fit most of those requirements , the exception being that they will probably be diseqc and not 36 volts

Thanks echelon, i think you're probably right - It might be best to hold back for the moment. unless anyone knows of a receiver that does fit the bill?

    cheers

The elusive and non-existant Dreambox DM8000 would be what you are looking for.

I bought the Pace DS810XE for £80 brand new on auction site.
It is hoped a new software version will be out soon to enable it to work properly with cams, but it works fine on BBC HD.
