good news! your reciever has been patched before so you can use it just like you would use a normal 5400.

best thing i can suggest is have a read through the help stickies mate, this should explain everything step by step, any problems just post your question

not much has changed since day 1 mate, a few bits of obsolete software now and a few to replace them but the fundamentals are all the same.

its been a while since i did a humax but im sure there will be plenty of people to tell you the best tools to use

I'd try the easy way first - latest emu / latest settings / latest keybin /programmed fun or silver or gold etc with any old keys in the card slot for irdeto atr / make sure in toh/ config that you are set to card+emu

Try something more fancy like a spring clean later on if you aren't happy

    Loader tools:
    emu - hdfsmart
settings - hnfsmart [set dropdown model menu in configure/options to 5400 not 5400z
keybin - dsr9500cw 5.6 - under ? set to humax default & select com port [load with stb already on]

    hi mark666,

sorry grumppy, bumping in, if i read your post correctly, you are getting no channels, and that you have a high strength but no quality.

now there maybe a couple of reasons for this, so is your dish a motorised dish, and when you say the dish is ok, is this tested on another box???

we need to eliminate various things so its best to start there

psu could be an issue (and why someone sold it so cheap)

if you loose the 30v rail on the psu the box will still work but the tuner will not, quite a common fault im afraid.

if my mind serves me correct im sure i have posted inormation on how to get this sorted somewhere, a bit of a search should take you to the information.

however if you cant find it (i cant) let me know and i shall post it up again

    hi mark666,
good, that's cleared up the dish, (though you did not say if your dish was motorised, or diqesc1.2 capable)

as Grummpy said, next thing is to check your tuning to make sure the humax is looking at the same thing as your other box,

as Zad has said (and i had in mind) was it might be a psu problem,(not much of one so do not worry) but we need to make sure the box is pointing at the right thing so that we can eliminate setup problems, seeing its a new purchase it will be setup differently to your area.

    hope this helps
    voith
