    problem with 5400

    Hi,
Since couple of days ago my humax has been half dead. When I turn it on the three dots on the display blink, loader appears on the screen, and then nothing happens. The three dots keep on blinking and the receiver can't boot up. I cannot reprogramme the software because it doesn't boot up. Can anyone help, what could be done?

    Thanks

    check the psu mate!

its classic symtoms of it starting to go down.

the 3 dots is caused by having no channel setting file, you could try loading one first to se if that will fix the issue

Thanks. Do you think I can load anything into it since it doesn't boot up?

you could try, it will not hurt.
most of the time it will load new firmware before it does anything else

    Yes.
As Zad says, the three dots is a classic sign of the existing channel set having been lost.

When you power down /up you go into the re-boot sequence. The first thing the software does is to check whether an update is being received.

By pressing the Standby button on completion of the update, you switch back to the normal start-up procedure.

Don't forget to edit any new channel set and keep the total number of channels below 4000 to avoid any problems.

You may wish to save a copy of your new "edited" channel set so that it can be easily reloaded at a future date.

    Good luck.

Just to add that you cannot use the standby button to initialise the upload.

Start with your Humax off from the main switch at the back, start the upload process from your channel editor, when you get the 'waiting for humax connection' message box, switch on your Humax by using the main switch at the back. When the the upload process is finished and 'end' is flashing, press the standby

and to add just a bit more, if this all fails, then its quite likely your PSU has given up the ghost, a relatively cheap DIY job

    @ enes

as the fellas have sais just reload your settings file and all should b okay

note all my families irci 5400 have gone this way and lately updating to TOH 3.4 ver 8.3 - when adding channels rather than using a settings editor via P/C it seems more prone to get the 3 dots syndrome

so no more adding chs for the rest of my family using search on the patched humax
