This IS the place for extended conversations, that's what forums are all about.

Also lots of people will get to learn and input to the conversation at the same time and not just a few if you use the PM system.

Do you mean CSA or RSA?[/QUOTE]

    "
Ras RAS is csa scrambled Biss
For those who don't know, RAS key code encryption (Remote Authorisation System) is typically used for occasional feeds (especially live sporting events).
It was developed by NDS/Tandberg and is used in professional Tandberg IRDs like the TT1260 or Alteia.
Instead of using a smartcard, you input a 7-digit key into the IRD.

'Basic Interoperable Scrambling System, usually known as BISS, is a satellite signal scrambling system developed by the European Broadcasting Union and a consortium of hardware manufacturers.
Prior to its development, "ad-hoc" or "Occasional Use" satellite news feeds were transmitted without any encryption.
This allowed anyone with the correct equipment to view the program material.
Using BISS the transmission is protected by a 12 digit "session key" that is agreed by the transmitting and receiving parties prior to transmission.
The key is entered into both the encoder and decoder, this key then forms part of the encryption of the digital TV signal and only receivers with the correct key will decrypt the signal.
    The system, however, is insecure.'

CW Finder 0.9.1 is an old patched version by "artman hacker" but for me it is as the version official 0.9.0 beta update by Mover.

if I record a file on a technomate 5402, I think it will be in .trp format. If I then convert that file to .ts, would it work ok with CW finder?
Also BBC biss keys for 27.5W are 16 long, but the technomate lines are 32 long. Does teh key need to be entered twice or on the left/right or some sort of prefix added to id the channel?

having tried the above, the technomate wont record a scrambled channel, so i guess a pc with a dvb-s card is required? ie the qbox or similar.
