Just swopped my Invacom twin 0.3 (half full of water and less than 12 months old) with new Smart tit 0.2 twin. Far better signal strength on all sats. Unbelievable value at £10.

i guess the water might be why eh.
Yep I agree with you about invacom I changed mine too for a lemon 0.2 and am very pleased with signal quality.
Invacom what a pile of s**t.
Here we go - ten page very serious lnb discussion coming up
i was very please with my invacome for 2 years solid - did me proud - sadly i gave it up for a generic twin output one when i moved.
we shall wait for 'menbeds' expert opinion...

Try that well know auction site mate
Amazing how invacom get slated after not performing very well half full of water ....lol
seriously the amount of leeway given to these lnb manufacturers does allow for some poor samples to get through.
Here in cyprus we end up looking at a lot of fringe signals and the invacom comes out best overall especially the c120 quad.
Hi grumpy, agreed but it will at least keep the membership active......
I must chose my words more carefully, the invacom, even when new,(and not full of water) produced reasonable results. During this time of frequent use I got used to the expected signal strength on each satellite. The recent storm caused the a leak rendering it useless. Only when it was replaced did I realise that the signal strength I had gotten used to was well below that which the new LNB produced.
I had a Smart Tit 0.2 twin output bought to try to improve the Fox Sport signal on 16 deg before it encrypted. It was definitely a slightly better signal than the 0.6 dual I had before but when Digi Alb switched frequencies I couldn`t receive it.Tried lots of receivers on both outputs then in desperation went back to the old lnb.It stormed in a signal at 93%.
The smart obviously is faulty and I think was from new. It`s still about 6 months old.I am fed up of all this bol*ox of quoted noise figures as it means nothing.I used to have a 0.8 max quad band Swedish Microwave which came with its own graph and was 0.6db genuine max other than on a very narrow signal where it touched 0.7db.
That meant something and was far better than the 0.6 typical that replaced it on my first universal lnb.Until max noise figures are qoted anybody can say anything depending how many of there lnb`s are tested and the average performance gained.
tryed 4 different lmb on 1.2 archsat dish
1st invacom 0.3 (true 0.3)
2nd edison 0.2 not far behind i might add
3rd smart tit 0.2 orange not as good as edison sent it back
3rd sharp 0.3 same as smart
4th mti 0.6 works fine for cheap lmb
i have been in satellite since it first started and it does depend on the system complete and how well tuned and aligned the dish and pole mount are
set up
hope this helps
A 0.2dB LNB could be 10x worse than a 0.8dB LNB.
How? Quite simple really.
The 0.2dB LNB noise figure was measured with a stronger signal than the 0.8dB LNB.
You cannot compare like for like without an identical reference input signal level.
To simplify this further, listen to a cheap CD player with a buzzing sound in the background, and now turn the volume up until you cannot hear the buzzing sound. Noise level is reduced, so stamp it with 0.2dB sticker.
in my thinking is i used viacom 0.3db range lnb is best because iused lot of difreant lnb since two year or more viacom used never had problem with any channel
With lnb,s,don,t believe everything that is claimed, several years ago I bought one of the first 0.4 ones.It was a genesis, was competing with syntec 2000 at the time, well this genesis was just a re-badged cambridge 0.6 and the one they sent performed worse than a cambridge and the 0.7 I had removed, complained bitterly to them and got it replaced, new one performed very well, but remember at the time that a lot of people got conned.
I can't slate Invacom, the customer services are brilliant, I had a problem with my 0.3 lnb the birds had pecked away at the orange plastic type filter.
explained to Invacom the problem, and they without any hesitation sent out a new one by courier the next day.
excellent service and a BIG THANKYOU TO INVACOM
