what's the difference between blue-ray and hd
ok fella's
i would've thought i knew the answer to this as well.... but my pal's son asked me this the other day and it stumped me in as much the only answer i could muster up was "well errrr you can record to blue-ray and the disc are of a much higher capicity than HD.
so i'm gonna ask all you experts, what is the difference and can you record to HD as i havn't seen anything in this regards.
oh! and i told him that there is no or very little difference in PQ was i right?
thanks & regards: canthackit

One uses a blue laser (Blu Ray) which is much narrower than
the standard red laser which means you can get much more
data on one layer
HD DVD uses the standard red laser so less info on one layer
Both are multi layered though
As far as I'm aware you will be able to write to both

thanks TNT
so it appears i was right up to a point, would i be correct then in assuming that although there blue-ray recorders out there i hav'nt seen any HD recorders or have i just been blind.
one other thing what about the PQ on both are they equal or is there a difference?

Toshiba had a HD DVD recorder coming out but it got delayed
At this point in time any HD recorder is pretty pointless as
everything is protected !
As for PQ they both use the same codecs so PQ will be down
to the manufacture not the format
