    Option 1, using VuCC:

FTP the ipk file to the /tmp folder on the Duo4K.

Telnet into your box and type the following three lines...
    Code:
    cd /
    opkg install /tmp/the_filename_of_your_ipk_file.ipk
    reboot
    Option 2:

You can also use the "Install local extension" from the Duo4K menu. You'll have to find that option in the menu, it's in different places, depending on the image installed.
Just FTP the ipk to the /tmp folder, first. Then you can use "Install local extension" from the Duo4K menu.

You can access the Manual install IPK files by pressing the green button, followed by the Yellow Button, on your remote, after doing what hda5 says, by transferring the .ipk file, to your tmp folder.
You can use the VU+ Control Centre, or just download Filezilla, which is free, or other FTP program.

VUCC = VU+ control Centre, you just need the FTP program.
You can either open the VUCC, login, and click the FTP option, or download Filezilla, a free FTP program, and then login, to your VU+.
To transfer the .ipk file, to your VU+ receiver, you use the FTP program, once connected you can see your PC files, in the left panes, and your receivers files, in the right panes.
You drag the downloaded .ipk file, from your PC, into the tmp folder, right lower pane.
You then go to your receiver, press the Green button, on your receivers remote control, then the Yellow button, and select manual install of IPK files.

It would help if you told us what you're trying to install, as .ipk files aren't used that much, anymore, since most things can be downloaded using the plugin options.

Here's a full step by step guide using VuCC.

    Launch VuCC
    Press the FTP button
Double click on the tmp folder on the right pane, as shown in the image below. Click on the image below for a bigger picture.

Then select the ipk file from your local hdd, on the left pane and drag it across to the tmp folder on the right pane.

On Vix, pressing the green and yellow button isn't an option.
Instead, press menu -> setup -> ViX to locate the "Install local extension" option.

Click on the images below for a larger picture of the procedure from the menu.

Once you're on the "Install local extension" screen, you'll see your ipk file in the list.
Select the ipk file and press the green button to install it.

Just checking, did you manage to set it up okay, Fred, using the instructions above, or are you still struggling?

Which IPTV app is it you're installing?

Check the IP address in the Network menu, on your box. It might have changed, if you have DHCP enabled.

    Other things to know...

Have you set a password on your box?

On the newer images you can't FTP to the box unless you've set a password, first.

If you haven't set a password, you'll find the Password option in the Network menu, on the Vix image.

What is the name of the IPTV plugin you're trying to install?

You can install the Xstreamity app from the plugins menu on ViX.

Press Menu button on remote, then -> Plugins -> Green Button -> Extensions -> Xstreamity

    xstreamity.jpg

Click the image for bigger picture.

This will get the Xstreamity app installed on your box.
