how often should you change coaxial cable on motorised set up?.

just curious to this as my current coax must be on my sat system over 10 years, wonder would it be a good idea to replace it with new coax.

how often do other users change there coaxial cable on there sat system?.

Just look at the end of the cable with the f type connector on - if there's no corrosion, it doesn't need changed. Also if it's corroded, usually you an just cut the end about 5-10cm and it's shiny copper again. So unless you've got kinks or damage to the cable, I wouldn't bother replacing.

I installed my motorised 1.3m dish at ground level with cable buried under the lawn ,up the kitchen door frame ,through the attic and down through a hole in the corner of the lounge ceiling to the receiver --- all done in 1987 and no cable changed --- still working .

it depends on what coax was used in the first place ct 100 / ct 125 / wf 100 / rg 6 and so on if you take the f plug off the end is the braid on the coax copper or tin
you can allways chop about 1 inch of each end of the coax and redo the f plugs
there again my motorize system has been up over 25 years but the coax im using is ct 125 trouble is the firm that used to make it ended up by pricing it out of the market
