updating channels on icecrypt box S1600chd

I have this icecrypt box installed, and overnight I have lost Film4+1 and instead I have more4+1. Can I update my channel list and how?

I do not have or know your icecrypt box, but on mine ( Vu boxes and spiderbox) I have recently done a manual scan on the new transponder on 28.2 east because a lot of C4 channels changed transponders before xmas, so that is my recommendation if you are asking abut the ones on 28.2 east and not about 27.5 west

go to king of sat or lyng sat for transponder information

read your instruction manual for help on manually scanning channel transponders

    Hi Echelon,
Thank you for your reply. I have had my icecrypt box for quite a few years now, I unfortunately don't have the user manual now. I receive bbc1, 2, 4, news, ITV, c4, c5, before film4+1 but now more4+1 since yesterday. One day film4 next day more4.
My dish is facing 240° SW, I don't know what satellite it faces as I didn't set it up.
    Questions;
is 28.2 east and 27.5 west compass directions, I can't see how they are. If not how do I find these satellites?
Are there other boxes I can use instead of the icecrypt box to receive the channels I get now? I live in southern spain in the mountains, so this is my only way of viewing UK tv. Astra2sat.com says that now icecrypt is now not trading, so I guess that is why I can't update my channels.
Any advice would be very welcome.
    Thanks

It sounds like you're viewing 27.5W, and unfortunately it seems Film4 +1, has been removed, from that satellite.
If you have a good internet connection you could try viewing using an IPTV option.

    Hi Mickha
Thanks for your input, unfortunately we live in the mountains and our internet is via satellite and not very fast. Not even sure what an IPTV option is.

Is 27.5W a satellite name or a compass direction?

27.5W is a satellite position, 27.5 degrees West of 0.
Check satellite sites, like lyngsat, or flysat.

Latest satellite updates are posting this information, Intelsat 907, 27.5W, Film 4 +1 has now left 11495 V

I'm not really understanding, I maybe not getting this right. I took a compass reading of the direction of my dish this morning and it was 240°SW.
    But thanks for your help.

It all depends on your location, on the Earth, if in the Northern Hemisphere, which includes Europe, then we align motorized satellite dishes to South, so 27.5W is 27.5 degrees West of South.
Satellites are described as being located at these positions, like Astra 2 is located at 28.2E, 28.2 degrees East of South.
Your dish is already aligned to 27.5W, so I doubt you can receive 28.2E, for all the English FTA channels.

Right I think I understand. So 28.2E is about 151.8° compass bearing which I think we can find as we are perched high on a hill. Does this satellite have all the BBC and independent channels like c4, c5, etc?
I really appreciate your help with this.

    Check with dishpointer:
    Code:
    https://www.dishpointer.com/
Type in your location, select Astra 2, 28.2E, then zoom in on the map, to your location, and check the direction.
Most UK channels are now using the UK spot beam, so are more difficult to receive, in parts of Europe, and might require a large dish, if even possible to receive:
    Code:
    https://www.lyngsat.com/Astra-2E-2F-2G.html
    Code:
    http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/footprints/Astra-2E-UK.html

    hi jake,
i am down in southern spain too living, you wont recieve anything from 28,2 on a dish that size, i would need a 3m dish here in andalucia to get any spot beam coverage, i can recieve sky news and a few non descript channels and anything on european beam say sky sports on a 1.3 dish but would need a subscription to watch it, all the ftv channels like bbc, etc you wont be able to receive,
however, your dish is pointing at intelsat 907 27.5 west and this can receive satback channels with the decoder you have, but only bbc 1&2, itv, ch4, ch5,in hd then some sd channels , and radio, film4+1 was one of them and it now seems to have gone, it was news to me also as of today, hope this is of help to you m8

    Hi lacierva,
Thanks for that info. It seems that we have what we have and have to live with it. I am around almuńecar where are you? What box do you have? An icecrypt too?
If so then we have to do with what we've got.
    Thanks for your input.

    hi jake,
i am just outside the city of sevilla, i use a vusolo2 with a motorized dish for 27w and all european stuff, then i have a fixed 1.3 for 28.2 but not alot on it now as i said, it what we have now, and to be honest its been great for a couple of years now, i used to have an icecrypt but it give up, and now the company is out of business, they were easy to set up and to insert biss, but enigma 2 reciervers also open up a different choice of viewing.
can you actually watch more4+1 at moment or is it just showing as a channel ? i dont seem to be able to open it ??

    @ jake

despite your confusion over this , it seems the above replies have hit the nail on the head

according to those replies, film4 has left that 27.5w sat position that your dish is pointed at

so nothing in = nothing out , hence why you no longer receive it

and given your spanish location, you wont get much or anything from 28.2 east unless you had an extremely large dish and pointed it at the same position that we get sky and freesat here in the UK , because a spot beam means it is targeted onto the UK and so not targeted over europe or spain , like if you shine a torch to your left at night in the dark you wont see anything on your right because it is not lit up

so basically, you get whatever they are sending from the satellite positioned at 27.5w up above

there are other satellites positioned above that cover spain or portugal or europe, like 13e and 19e and 30w for example , but most channels are encrypted and many are not carrying english audio

here in the UK a wok or a dusbin lid could pick up our free channels like BBC1 and film4 etc because we have a strong signal that is targeted onto us

so if your internet does not allow streaming services to do the job by broadband, and your dish and location stop you from viewing UL channels, you are at the mercy and whim of those SATBACK channels from 27.5 west , which is where your current dish is aimed at, beggars cannot be choosers and all that

so at least you now have explanations as to what has happened and why , so if the channel has left 27.5w , that is why you dont get it, but as you say they may have used the spare slot to give you more4+1 for example

Thank you to all for your informative replies, lacierva yes I have now more4+1 instead of film4+1. I just have a fixed dish facing I guess to 27.5w and receive a good quality service of the channels we have.

And thank you Echelon for your input, yes I agree that what we get is what we have.

I would be interested to know if thete was a box I could use that wasn't obsolete and I could update. As I have said I am not tech minded, and I don't really know anything about all of this, but it's all been very helpful thank you all.
    Take care.
    Jake

no , no box can help you to get more than your current box, due to your dish size , dish capabilities and internet restrictions due to your location

if you wish to move back to rainy and foggy manchester and get a UK based internet provider, you will have far more options on your current box (including all our freesat channels from 28.2 east) , never mind what a VU or Zgemma box could do for you with both satellite options and internet based streaming options as well (IPTV)

    Ha ha, NEVER!
never will I move back to the UK. I'd rather have no tv and sit on a Mediterranean beach with a cold beer than be able to watch EastEnders or Corrie which I never do anyway.

Everybody's input has been very helpful and I now realise that I have is what I've got and that's it.

Being new to this forum, how do I credit the people who have answered me?

    Thank you

I get 27.5W on Technomate TM 5402 Mk3 although this is no longer supported.
Also TM Nano SE+ (linux) Both clear More4+1. Easy edited the name on 5402
But struggling to edit the name on TM Nano edit lamedb etc. no luck yet.
Its name is still Film4+1 on EPG etc.
