I would suggest a GT media V8 as you can plug in an ethernet cable into it but with a v7 you can't.

    It auto updates 4.8 east, 9e(afn), 15w and 16e.

    Yes.

You don't need to enter any keys, it auto updates on the sats mentioned after you have applied the latest software.

States it capable of 10000 channels, so assume has usals to blind scan etc

Its a p!ss poor stb, but if just wanting the basics and powervu it's excellent value.

Cheers mate, that's exactly what I suspected and there's much more to sat tv than just AFN & PowerVu channels?
So to your knowledge the rest of its channels are to be received in poor quality compared to, say, TM5402HD M3?

The picture is every bit as good as a TM5402 m3 and it auto updates powervu which is something the TM boxes don't do.

Its less than £30 for a V8 so it is fantastic value.

I'm not sure there is anything that a TM5402 m3 can do that the V8 super cannot do.

    TM has
Channel editor, full epg on 28e.
    Good working usals/diseqc.
    Blind scan far superior.
The TM f3 auto updates powervu 1w/4.8e doesn't open 9e.
Afn is the only advantage over TM stb.
I agree though it's great value for money.

Does the TM5402 M3 auto update powervu ?

How much support is there for Technomate boxes now, there is a lot of support when necessary for the GT media boxes ?

The Usals works perfectly well for me but I don't use blind scan.

    Its all personal taste anyway.

TM has no support as you know, and I expect thats because the 5402 is 5 years old and not a new stb.
Lets see support for gt media in 5 years?
Hows the channel list/editor? Or do you just use it for powervu?
If you want Afn fair enough, but I believe you bought it for 20w and thats not available any more.

I didn't buy it for 20 west as that is inclined orbit and the picture was very poor and the people who own those channels are very determined to keep them hidden from us.

I bought it as a back up for powervu on 4.8 east mainly although there are other sats as well, afn is ok but I think others like it a lot more than me, if you like American football then its fantastic.

I like it a lot and there is a lot of support.

I have a TM5402 M3 box now and I don't think there is going to be a new patch.

I have never had an enigma 2 box so I don't have a clue about images/oscam etc.

    Thanks.

Encryptions come and go, tandberg may get opened again yet.
TM or freesat v8 may open these encryptions soon who knows.
You will find a big difference from TM5402 to e2 stb.
